Consider using 5w-30/40 oil for this car. It’s essentially a WRX now being a FA24. That should help with the oil temps

I run 5w-30 in my gr N.A. and have not had an issue. I drive my car pretty hard and temps haven’t reached over 235

he doesn't need -40 maybe not even 30 , oil viscosity isn't for temperature its for oil pressure. higher pressures wont do much unless his oil pressure is below 15psi -20psi at idle then around 10psi per 1k of rpm. if he adds the oil cooler with a temperature switch to activate a fan would be enough then see his pressures with the extra pressure drop from the oil cooler.

@@123cornflakeman have you data-logged oil temp vs oil pressure on the two different oil weights with oil cooler? Did you not understand what I was saying? I doubt he has since stock the engine doesn’t have the ability to it just has a redundant oil sensor that tells you when you’re below a threshold. Increased oil viscosity alone will increase pressure not reduce temperature he is talking about wanting to reduce temperature not to increase pressure increase. If you want data logs let me know I can send you my data zap so you can see how increasing oil weight doesn’t drop your oil temperature just increased your pressure…. So no misinformation you just didn’t understand what was being talked.

Chris I’m not sure if you know or did this already. There’s clutch spring that you can replace. I did it right away when I got the car because stock spring you don’t feel the clutch grab at all and specially now you making more power I recommend you to get it. It’s company called Mtec
