I have ZERO doubt they will get it to work with the down force. A car of this caliber is going to require hundreds of hours of garage time after building to make everything work together. It's a brand new car... Lol you don't just fart out a totally custom race car and expect it to podium instantly. It doesn't work like that, it would be nice but unfortunately you have to spend the dollars. It's a process....

that dampening and rebound trial and error would be a nightmare on this thing i think going with a much sleeker low profile tire makes your guesstimate a lil bit easier without the bounciness and deflection of a meaty tire

Im willing to bet it might be the traction control cutting the throttle when he shifts gears or gets on the gas. Or its just the g forces moving his foot. Either way, if it's throttle by wire it could probably be programmed to be less sensitive to diver inout for a smoother ride. The heave spring and roll bar might also be too stiff the main springs and causing the suspension to become less independent

Plus it's destroked so the rpm is way higher than average LS also the torque figures will be way down even tho HP is high because of the destroked crankshaft. Plus it's a 400 cubic inch engine with good heads and cam and good intake so it flows very well at high RPM So it's not that special of tuning being done to achieve those figures. Not to take anything away from their tuner, of course he does a great job if he's capable of even tuning that setup to be efficient and driveable without destroying the drivers lower back. So yes he did a great job but it's more the setup than the tuner

I was trying to imagine what exactly an Indy Car Firebird was going to look like ahead of time. I was not prepared. These cars (this generation anyway) never appealed to me all that much back when they were cheap and plentiful, but after seeing them show up as AWD track monsters every few years, stuffed to the gills with power and weapons-grade suspension systems, I must admit a fair amount of regret bypassing them so many times.

Even if i ever finished making a 396 solid lifter copo cloned split bumper....id still rather have a pontiac stroker firebird early 70s. As a car nut who's very engineering minded, that used to sketch/design cars for fun, & 'invent' car technology... this absolutely speaks to me. I eat, sleep & dream about suspension, chassis, engine & aero tuning/engineering. And an aluminum de-stroked, high revving LS has always been my favorite setup ever. Love that & the aero focus, the blown diffuser, the advanced pushrod suspension. Not to mention that they're living my dream with the private, Top Gear style test track🤤😁👏🇺🇸

This is not being a "mechanic" (they bought most of their powertrain parts). This is being a mechanical designer and fabricator, which is MANY levels higher. There is not many signs of engineering done on their part (Verus did their CFD analysis), but what has been done on this car is nowhere to be able to be done by a "mechanic". These guys are beasts

they could crank the boost up to 1800-2000 hp and hook it up to a height measuring device and let a programmer write a program so the boost starts low and then goes up the higher the go, so they can stay all the time between at 1300hp with the program working in real time. Unlike other cars that lose hp the higher they go.

Extremely unique, impressive, and amazing build, I love it... clearly there was no expense spared. But it looks like it definitely needs work on suspension tuning, appears very bouncy and unstable at low-ish speeds, like perphaps spring rates are not well matched to weight of the car and it prevents power from being put down smoothly over uneven tarmac. I first saw this build at PRI and it was a show stopper for sure, I look forward to seeing it turning laps after they get it sorted.

What a badass car and an awesome father-son experience. This is the type of stuff that makes America so great, god bless gents. My dream build is in the same vein as this, I would love to build a rally focused 71 Hemi Cuda.

First thoughts on the looks. Definitely keeps the Pontiac firebird lines which is nice. Especially the front nose and rear end. The canards look to be on steroids along with the rear HUGE diffuser. The rear wing is huge to ! To much for my liking for the street but if this car is going to the Indy road course, go for it. Pretty much a Mad Max theme gone 2nd gen firebird with way more input. The fabrication and functionality is second to none. Suspension definitely needs to be dialed in. Love the twin turbo LS power. Tons and tons of hours went into this build and it shows. I would like to see it compete with like competitors on the track and see how she does. Very cool build and respect for the time and effort put into it.

I'm sure I'm not the only D2S fan on here, but anyone else remember the COVID season when Lando talked about hitting the brakes and not being hold his head up under forward G forces? Seeing Shawn's head fall forward & stay there despite his efforts cracked me up - and I'm not laughing AT him (because it'd be the same for me) I'm laughing with him. Love the content!

Haha this cracked me up too. If you've ever seen Misha doing laps with a passenger around the Nürburgring, a lot of people get the rubber neck as well. Most people's necks aren't used to helmet weight combined with braking/cornering g-loads, it's enough sloshing to make some get dizzy and puke

New build, big areo, crazy suspension, and meaty tires. Needs time to dial everything in. Few thousand pounds of down force makes things tricky to get right. I'm sure they'll get it sorted in time

Sheesh, imagine Ken Block lining the Hoonicorn up next to this thing with a comparable driver with ample seat time in it. That would be a real Battle of Titan builds! This car is equally as nuts as the Hoonicorn! In the best ways of course!

I know I'm going to get flamed big time for my comment, but here it goes. 1. The engineering on this car, IS OUT OF THIS WORLD!! As a person that built a lot of the parts I used on my own personal car I used to race, I'm in awe!! One thing I will say, and the flame suite is on. I understand the guy used to work for an Indy car team but, I see how much money can I drop in this car, to say I'm the biggest, baddest, etc...
