In this video I try out Liqui Moly engine flush along with a fresh Molygen oil change and finish that all up with a bottle of that sweet motor honey lifter additive. All products made by Liqui Moly in the motherland of Germany.
Step one: pour one entire bottle of engine flush into crankcase and allow engine to idle for 10 minutes. Seriously, just let it idle, no r3ving!
Step two: perform an oil change. Drain the oil and change the filter.
Step three: fill with new 5W-40 Molygen oil (Approx. 7 quarts capacity for N52) and add the can of sweet German motor honey. I mean Hydraulic Lifter additive by Liqui Moly.
Overall the results were pretty good with the engine flush and hydraulic lifter additive and fresh oil. The lifter noise was greatly reduced at idle, and moderately reduced when accelerating lower RPM range. I think it needs more time to coat the parts and work into the motor 4-500 miles before seeing the maximum effects of the products and new oil.

Next time zeit change the filter while the oil is draining because that flush seeped to the bottom of the crankcase that was mixed with the oil but you put the plug back on at the bottom so you still had flush in your pan.

Within couple of seconds I heard no more ticking and if you guys wondering on the measurement for my N51 is 7qts used in total & used full synthetic 5w30 & grab a Empty bottle of a 1qt and add the additive first and fill up the rest with 5w30 to hit a full quart and a 2nd quart of your final bottle of 5w30 👍

Change your VANOS solenoids! Get them from BMW - they are expensive but your engine will make peak power! - I noticed a whine on your car that my car makes when the solenoids are worn but not enough to throw a code. The whine will go away and you will get fuel economy at around 7.5L/100km with a heavy foot.

Like many European cars they can use a wide range of viscosities. As an example my W222 S350d can use various specs, such as 0w30, 5w30 and 5w40. The most common oil is 5w30. Though I shall likely be using 5w40 at the next oil change. As long as it meets 229.51 or 229.52 its all good. And in this case the 5w40 meets LL01. Does your handbook have the viscosity/temperature chart ?

Both of the e91s that my wife had (she still has one) would start ticking near the time to change the oil 3.5k - 5k..... I was originally changing at 5k, now at 4k........I tribute all the tricking to the lifter sticking from build up. The oil may last 7.5k -10k and still lubricate but the varnish and sludge starts to build and it does not take much to cause issue with some the small channels in these engines.

You missed an important step, 1st you did right, but you want to let the oil drain out completely, after that, you open the oil fill cap and unscrew the oil filter, you will notice that a lot more oil will start flowing out of the car... it’s because of the pressure release.

In order to get some quantitative results I think you'd isolate the lifter noise. Maybe an automotive stethoscope? I didn't hear an improvement. That, and you could have done the oil change without the additive, wait 500 miles, check lifter noise (with stethoscope) then add lifter product, wait 500 miles measure noise again. Without at least the 500 mile update, this video is kinda pointless.
@BIMMERZEITT
@BIMMERZEITT 4 жыл бұрын
Tim Krusemark yeah, it would take a lot of effort to make these kinds of videos very scientific. It did make an improvement in sound, but since it was all done together (time is limited these days) it’s impossible to isolate each. I believe the biggest cause of lifter noise is old oil and letting the car sit for long periods to where the oil fully drains due to gravity and the lifters now longer have full oil pressure. Of course there is the wear issue too, especially at 270,000 miles.

The small amount of oil left in the filter housing will make zero difference, to get it all out you would need to suction it out anyway, they never drain fully. And those are O Rings not gaskets. @@BIMMERZEITT It’s 100% synthetic. Liqui Moly is not. There’s a reason why every oil company (except Motul & Amsoil) write Fully Synthetic or All Synthetic in their bottles. They are not allowed by law to write 100% Synthetic on their bottles because they have mineral petroleum in it. These companies get away with writing Fully Synthetic because the law allows that if there’s a certain percentage of synthetic base stock and/or the oil itself, they can call it Fully Synthetic. Basically they are deceiving the customer to thinks it’s 100%. Liqui Moly is not 100% synthetic. Look at Motul’s bottle. It says 100%.

@@BIMMERZEITT I don’t know what the percentages have to be, ie; 90% synthetic, 10% petroleum in order for the companies to be allowed to say Fully Synthetic. Just remember one thing, there’s only 2 companies in the world that I know of that are pure 100% man made oil and ZERO petroleum distillates from the ground. And they are Amsoil and Motul.
