I just added it up. I'm $717.46 into simple maintenance parts: Fluids kits, cabin air filter, wipers, etc. But that does include floor mats as well. It sure felt like a thousand bucks when I was buying all this crap. I still have to flush the coolant.
@simonnim3216 жыл бұрын
@@ObsessedGarage Oh, okay. That makes more sense. I think general maintenance on a BMW isn't as expensive as people put it out to be. It just costs more for the labor.
@Suomyice6 жыл бұрын
$1000 for fluids!!!. Like you said the maintainens cost for German cars( specially high performance) is CRAZY. And to motifey them it gets even crazier. Take for exp. The price of a full exhaust for the M3 in comparison with like GT 350. It is double the price in the M3 but what you are getting in terms of guility is the same. Personally buying a $43000 vehicle and then have to pay close to 10% of that only for pair of muffler is nuts!, and it would take away my enjoyment of modifying the car. Feeling like getting robbed on every part you buy.
@memememine16 жыл бұрын
Competley agree I own a 4 door version of the m3 that Matt owns and it's insane. I'm actually looking at a Camaro SS 1le or a mustang GT Peformance Pack due to the high maintaince and repair costs of the m3.

It’s not 1k. Maybe 300 ish
@Suomyice6 жыл бұрын
@@Heymeit I am sure you can get away with lubrication, for way less. But if you do everything OEM and buy every nut and bolt new, and go overboard on everything like Matt usually does. It gets up from only be expensive to being crazy. Overall modern German cars are way overpriced and the maintaince cost is nuts and modifying flat out crazy. If you think about the $$$. And the overpriceing on everything kills the resale value. On everything else then the 911's
@memememine16 жыл бұрын

YOU DO NOT NEED THE TRANS OIL FILTER!...it's a simple stainless mesh screen that can be easily cleaned if necessary and reused forever, it's indestructible, wasted a some $30 on a new filter I'll never need in 200k miles. (trivial but....) Changed diff oil at 47k as new 2nd owner, 2011 manual, a little clutch plate grit came out but not a lot, first used Mobile 1 and the diff behaved fine at any normal speed but it would begin to engage slightly when turning tight at very low sp.s in a parking lot, I changed it again (forget the brand but high end) and still it would behave slightly wrong at walking speed tight turns. *FINALLY I bowed my head and went to BMW dealer* and laughed over the counter when they quoted me $150 for less than 3 quarts....but damned if it didn't SEEM to fix the problem and they had it on the shelf ....I was toying with idea of rebuilding diff so if gold plated superduper BMW oil fixes it?? Sheesh...it stunk as exactly like all the rest back to the 1980's. (most wouldn't even notice the diff misbehavior, subtle but I'm tight with my machines barely an issue and only one so far)

@kdawson56 жыл бұрын
eemeli rantalainen You don’t judge a fluids condition by how it looks. Put a thermocouple on the diff, go the track every time the fluid gets burnt. These diffs don’t hold enough fluid. This isn’t debatable.
