Mostly effecting people who were playing with long lifespan on. My game tried to auto-age one sim child who’s birthday was in Winter and it was the beginning of Summer. When I went into CAS ( to mess with the new orientation options) the rest of the household was being forced to auto-age after that. Another Simmer Fantazyia had all of her sims in her high school let’s plays auto age randomly as well.

I Swear, not even Werewolves had issues this big, sure on pre-release the game changers had invisible werewolves and on release Some players did. but they tried to repair it in a rather timely manner, but Auto-Aging a Sim...god...by Comparison Werewolves is like a Dream and a Gift (and in some sense. it actually is since Werewolves is pretty good in my book)

It's ridiculous. I never had a game that became unplayable for days because of a patch. EA is a big, rich company and constantly delivers half finished products. Why can Giants, a small company, make a perfect Farming Simulator which runs smoothly with very few bugs? I ran MS FSX for years with very few crashes. I love The Sims but it's unacceptable to just disable the game for all your customers for days while you use them as testers!

Yep, and it is ridiculous that with every new pack you just know there is something that won't work or suddenly one day you realise oh there is a problem again and you have to play around that problem. I'm so used to the game being glitchy, badly done and released while not ready that I don't even sometimes notice that basically I hve been sold a product that does not work properly and needs maintenance. I remember at start when I used to read patch notes and hoped my glitch was there bc I was still a teen unable to use english to report my issues and my language didn't have proper forums or at least I couldn't find them

I think it's messed up that ea just rolls out unfinished software and uses players to test it instead of hiring actual testers. This isn't a one time issue, they do this on purpose. I'm really afraid that this is becoming industry standard

It can’t become the industry standard. We already see it now and many players miss updates on purpose so they can wait a few days for others to test out. If this had become a stardard, the players would’ve quickly pick up on it and just not update/buy the new packs until they’re fixed.

Bethesda does this with whole ass games. Then later on they only patch out glitches that they feel wouldn't be detrimental if removed. Like the giant flinging you to space glitch, that got to stay because it was a glitch that was actually enjoyable.

It’s so absurd. A million dollar company releases a half-ass game, & half-ass game packs that everyone at this point EXPECTS to have it majorly impact their cc, mods, and gameplay. First, I cannot use or change any skin tones. Then, I cannot change any color swatches, or facial feature items. I fix that by deleting my “more columns” mod. Oh yay! Finally I can play the sims! Oh wait never mind, I can’t place doors or even have them in the first place. I fix it tediously by replacing all my document folders. Yay! I fixed it! I can finally play the sims! Oh wait never mind, my sims won’t fucking age. Hmm, I’ll just restart the game. I can finally play the sims! Oh wait, never mind. My sims keep going bald each time I load into the game. I got a major scare with my sims after the update. First, my sim’s needs were lagging like crazy, they showed up green even when they were very low, or showed yellow all the time… and then my teen sim (my only heir for my next generation) suddenly “died of starvation” when their hunger bar was at half 30 irl seconds ago. Thankfully I hadn’t saved in like 20 minutes, so I got the sim back, but it’s horrible that an update can release when it’s so buggy

As a developer (not for games) in real life, I can tell you it's likely due to 2 major reasons. 1) not enough time was spent focusing on the functional and technical specifications. The business says "include a want triggered by friendship to ask on a date". The business should then state all positives and negatives to test against: must be in an age category the sim can be romantic with, sim must not be in a romantic relationship with another sim with high romance values, target must be romancable by sim (which would check age, family status), must have personality coinciding with the want (name traits that don't work, like unflirty) 2) not enough testers or testers not experienced enough to find these extra test cases (we know the sims team doesn't do as much testing as they could). They just don't see it before giving the okay the first time around Where I work, it's often the business not stating clearly exactly what they want so it ends up not being coded that way, and the tester tests to what the business wants and very obvious side things. If a section of code is allowed to go into the release branch, then any bugs found becomes a new issue to work on and has to be repriorotized and fit in around schedules. I work on something that'll never really be complete but we do bi-weekly releases of updates when possible. And there are things in the backlog that have sat for 6+ years that the business would rather retrain people and make us do hotfixes on rather than fix the problem so it won't be a problem in the future.

Even given they couldn't get online right, you'd think they could figure out the basic fundamentals of what I assume game development to be. Agree with you 100% I'm pretty fed up with this.

@@melneils9106 One thing to consider is that sims4 was originally project Olympus. Think sims freeplay but multiplayer and for pc. So the foundation was wrong when they decided to just modify what they had (most likely a business decision) rather than rebuild from the ground up. It'd be like asking a ps1 to play a ps4 game, then point to a ps1 game working on the ps1 to say they should have been able to do better. From the very start, sims4 was going to be the worst iteration because they started making a totally different game but kept the basics.

That should be obvious to the designers who have to come up with how the mechanic will work. Probably more likely a tester issue like you said or time constraints. This happens ever. single. time. I know that every time there's a big pack coming out I'm not going to be able to play for days. If EA would let Maxis focus on fixing the stuff that's already out instead of churning out new shit, this wouldn't be such an issue. Instead, they have that bug fix team that works on a 'laundry list' of the worst/most common bugs but it's clearly more of a PR thing for them to go 'see look we're fixing things!' (too little too late after ignoring us for 5 years) I'll be glad when they move on to the Sims 5 or whatever and stop messing with this game so much so I can actually PLAY it without having my game ruined by new content EA is forcing on me every few months (especially since I use mods, which are pretty much necessary to make the game worth playing).

It's insane to me that they STILL, 8 years into this games overdue lifespan, break the game so bad with each and every update. At this point, I just have to EA hates cc creators because they know they could never make things as good as they do. They're mad cc creators make they're packs obsolete. There's no point in hating CC creators. Without them creating the game nobody would have anything to make CC for in the first place. Everything will get fixed like it always does. Even their game packs bug out like the wedding pack or the dine out pack (after years of being glitched they still haven't fixed it yet.) The sims 4 is a really fun game but it constantly glitches or breaks during updates or game pack releases. EA should know better then to give paying customers an incomplete or broken game/update.

@@fuwa9918 Unfortunately that is a double edged sword. The game being as old as it is, naturally, just allows for more opportunities for things to break. Granted there are glitches and bugs that could have been fixed by now, but this issue in particular is not solely specific to EA or the creators of The Sims. This is a widespread problem across multiple gaming titles and companies and it is something that is still prevalent throughout the industry. The good news is the creators are responsive and, like with the Wedding Pack, are willing to prioritize the major issues at hand and fix them. I know this isn't about a wide array of other games and companies, but maybe focus all of the disappointment to those who see these issues and choose not to do anything about them at all. I'm sure if you or I were in their shoes certain things would slip through the cracks no matter how prepared and ready it may be. Everything will be fine, the pack will be fixed at some point, and people will continue to complain as usual.

A weird glitch I experienced was related to a coffee table. My sims’ tv was sitting on top of their coffee table, which was a light wood color before the update. Next time I played after the update, the coffee table looked all abstract and colorful and when I looked closer it was the same as the skin from a pile of laundry. Only way I could ‘fix’ it was to change the swatch color of the coffee table to something else. If I tried to put it back to the original swatch I was using, it looked like laundry again.

delaying it isn’t an option as the patch HAD to be rolled out today. Game Changer access to the new pack for ALL GCs starts after the patch rolls out (today) and it’s a requirement to have the patch to play. Delaying that would completely skew the timeline for that. No way EA was letting that happen, but i agree it should’ve been prioritized.

@@8ri1 EXACTLY! Since game changers had early access to this patch, and IF they reported this, why was this not addressed prior to release? James Turner admitted that they had had the patch and EP prior to livestream, so I'm guessing they had this when Werewolves was launched or a few days after that. So it's either 1 of 2 things, 1.) Game changers didn't report this bug (less likely, but who knows) definitely none of them showed that in their gameplays, which I think is very shady of them. Or they were not allowed to show it, which I think why Carl didn't upload any early access if he was provided a copy, because I just know that among all the game changers he is the only one who would have made mention of this bug. Orrrrr 2.) If this was reported by Game Changers, EA and THE SIMGURUS don't listen to whatever feedback they get and cannot be bothered to fix whatever is broken.

Not surprising that the sims suddenly want to be in a relationship with their siblings when the toddler liking their parent glitch is still floating around unfixed. It's been said to be fixed but I had a few of my friends start playing the sims just a few days ago and just a few days into getting it, one of them sends a screenshot showing a toddler showing a romantic interest bit for their mother in their profile. Honestly, I'm just tired, these glitches should've been gone YEARS ago and I don't know how they expect new packs to function in the game when it's already on a broken foundation.

I remember reading somewhere the the original code was meant to be an online multiplayer game that was canceled, but rather than scrap the whole thing they turned it into the Sims 4. I don't know enough about coding to tell you if this is the reason the game is so consistently buggy, but if the core coding was intended to run very different it's not a surprise it would cause issues

As someone that turned my aging off weeks ago (too emotionally attached to my sims!) I actually didn't see this problem at all. I entered into build/ live mode repeatedly today and the only problem was the lag, which is pretty normal at this point. But I'm gonna listen to fellow players and avoid messing up anything in my save file. Also thank God I'm waiting for my first paycheck to get highschool years because my gut was telling me to wait a good week or 2.

Yeah same! I went into one of my saved that had ageing off so I didn’t notice anything weird. I think the only strange thing I saw was my sim was at a club and hovering my mouse over other sims showed that they were a level 4 celebrity, which is weird when they shouldn’t be and they can interact like normal sims. But I’m not if that’s a normal glitch or because of the update.

Mine isn't adding days to their age bar, but more so ignoring the fact that it's set to "long lifespan" and is assigning aging based on either short or average lifespan (not sure which since I've been playing on long lifespan for years). Prior to the patch my sim had 30-something/54 days left until aging up and the bar was just under half full; after the patch, the age bar was just under half full with 9 days until age up. So, it doens't seem to be adding days but misassigning lifespan. (Yes, I've already reported it on answers hq). Really hope this is fixed soon, because I can't play this save that I've been playing for years until it's resolved.

My sims would randomly age up from teen an adult. My game was on long lifespan but as soon 4 sim days went by my teen sim ages up really fast all the way to adult. It messed up my storyline to the point where I just deleted the save.

A mod-related thing that is annoying is that if you have more cas columns installed you can't change the swatches of anything. It fixed when I reverted back to just 2 columns, but EA don't do this to me!

i experienced the sibling ask out want and the way i got rid of it was thru one of the aspiration rewards store potions called, 'Want Refresher.' after my sim drank it, the want disappeared for awhile but then ended up appearing again. also it doesn't line up with the sexual orientation settings. my sim wanted to ask out their brother, even though they are strictly attracted to women.

The more time passes the less playable the sims becomes. Its so frustrating, since they updated the neighborhoods to being more "lively" random townies have been moving into houses even tho i have that off in settings, other households that i dont play for a few hours end up dying or having children when i dont want them to. The game at this point is a garbage fire and it makes me angry that i have invested so much into it. And even the adding of pronounce hasnt changed much to the game the sims just feel lifeless

yeah the pronouns are pretty rough, i use they/them for my sim and in interactions the grammar is pretty bad, like using "they's" instead of "theirs" (like in the context of his or hers), and holy shit there are so many goddamn babies and i also have neighborhood stories off so i have no idea what's going on there

I wonder if that aging up bug is connected to the one I just experienced... The lifespan won't change from the "normal lifespan" numbers to anything else despite me having it on long the whole save. It stays at 24 days even if I use short lifespan. I haven't seen any sims age up randomly yet, although I did quickly stop playing so sims didn't age too fast. Actually, Jacques (that elder sim who's the Knights of the Hedge leader) did die, but he's an elder so it made sense to me. That might have had to do with the bug.

The biggest issue I've had that I've noticed is my sims can't give food to my toddlers still. If anything it's worse than it was before. Also my sim wants to try for a baby with her wife. But I never expected such a bad glitch. Wish I was surprised.

When I played last grown adult men were asking my teen to be their girlfriend , and I'm being bombarded with notifications from sims asking to be my son's BFF even though they don't even know each other. My Sims aren't aging randomly, but the whole of CAS is broken. Icons for gender and age don't show up, hair and eye colour doesn't change when other colours are selected, previews for clothing and such in CAS have a weird white border so half of the items are barely visible. It sucks.

I’m so sad. I had my sims’ dad die when he originally would have had enough time to see them through high school which now I’m afraid to buy the pack that I was really looking forward to playing 🥺please EA please fix this. I'm glad I got the warning about the long lifespan before entering my game. That way I loaded up the game, changed the ageing settings, made a new save and played like normal without issues. Two things bother me still from the patch tho, the can't remove wants I'm not interested in and the calendar having a little yellow dot that is removed when I check it but keeps coming back even if nothing have changed in the calendar.

Noticed the calendar glitch. Had no idea of the bug for aging until I created a new household, booted it up, and all of a sudden my new character who I enrolled into university and had her move into the dorms, just aged up out of no where. I immediately cas.fulleditmode on her and just changed the lifespan to off on aging.

Thanks for posting this video, Pixelade: I hadn't started either Origin or my game up yet before watching this video, and you might have just prevented my latest save from being affected (I'm one of those players with like 50 different saves). I have everything set to automatically download patches. And thanks to you, I had the good sense to backup all of my saves, mods and screenshots before even booting up Origin, just in case. I have some beloved households in that save which I hadn't gotten around to saving to the Gallery yet, and I'm generally emotionally attached to my Sims. And there are a few households in there that I REALLY wouldn't want to lose. So I really feel like I dodged a bullet thanks to you.

But this is not a new thing with high school years, this has happened to me numerous times in the past. It has skipped time like that whenever going to work on a different lot for as long as I can remember. Why it happens though, I don’t know. I’m guessing it has something to do with the loading screen back to your home lot.

I was playing the goths today, Mortimer aged up on his own despite having the aging option turned off, he then died of exhaustion 5 minutes IRL time after woohooing with Bella once, showed no signs of exhaustion and then died in the bathroom shortly after… The sim I created afterwards randomly aged herself up after playing with her for 10 minutes from young adult to adult. Ok, does anybody have a problem with CAS? Like, I can’t change the swatches of clothing items. Any of the items for that matter. UI extension broke after the update so had to delete that until it comes up with an updated version. After the update I noticed MCCC wasn’t even showing up in my game so glad they have the new download which I got to have that back in my game. Just wondering if anybody else is having the same issue with CAS and not being able to change the color swatches.

I was changing the appearance of my sim yesterday and after i was done there was an infinite loading screen so i had to restart my computer and of course lost all my progress. Another “weird” thing i noticed was that one of my sims had a wish to break up with her husband when their relationship bar was full to the max which doesn’t make any sence. There has been so many bugs in this update.. I can't select most of the sims my sim knows while traveling (they appear grey and unavaliable) and when I have options I can't choose more than one. The Finchwick Fair days are all messed up in the calendar, when you open the Fair Info it says Saturday and day time hours but in the calendar, they are in random days and random hours like: "From 11.36 PM to 6.36 AM" ??? Besides, the sexual orientation UI has no icon, has no text on it. Pets also have sexual orientation selection which I found also odd. My save game was set on no aging for active and non-active households and they weren't aged at all, but when I loaded my game, they were half the age. My game has never been this bugged. I took my script mods, there are just custom content. These are just what I experienced in the 2 hours after updating the game. Maybe there are many more.

I'm kind of just done at this point; we've invested a lot of money into The Sims franchise to get glitches (sometimes the same ones) that don't even make sense. Like why take a long time to release a pack if it's not perfect or close to it?? I think focusing on recurring issues (inappropriate relationship glitches, mannequin glitches, etc) should have been done before releasing new content. And then stuff like this is what provokes people to depend on modders to "fix" the problems. They work just as hard as EA trying to help us out, which shouldn't be the case.

When I updated my game, my build mode was messed up too. Cabinets, countertops, and sofas were glitched out. Whenever I tried to select, for example, outer corner piece or right end piece, i couldn’t because it was so glitched that sofa options were popping up for placing cabinets and vice versa.

Hahaha this just happened to me yesterday! I was editing Bella and Mortimer to play them for the high school pack, and right after I’d mastered Bella’s teen form I exited CAS and she aged up into a young adult. Fortunately I was able to age her back down and it seems like it stuck 😂 So annoying.

same, all my teens aged up when the point was to go to high school and then all their romantic partners became young adults and couldn’t flirt anymore😩

I've noticed my non-wolf sims can now "Sniff and Introduce" which I'm pretty sure isn't smth they should be able to do

I’ve noticed that before the patch, for some reason with toddlers. With all parties non-werewolves so it’s been a bug for a while smh

I had this relationship bug months before the new update came out - my adult sim had her TODDLER son as a romantic interest

I have a glitch. 2 bottoms from the newest fashion kit look like broken cc, the color blocking, missing parts of legs, the random '?'s

I need help. I updated my game as soon as the update was available, but once I opened CAS the new options for sexuality and body hair were available, but it didn't show any text. This is a problem because now I don't know what the options are or what I'm choosing in the sexuality panel because it doesn't show any text. Disabled all mods, and the problem still happened. I could still see all my saved games, everything else looked normal to me. Now today I decided to open my game again and see if anything had changed, and this is where everything went wrong. I open my game, and all of my saved games are GONE. It only shows the options scenarios, start a new game, gallery, and game options. Second of all, I looked in my files and there were suddenly 2 save folders titled the Sims 4 in my EA save folder. (One of which is in Dutch, because I've always played in Dutch, and the other suddenly in English. When I open the game, it shows the English version even though I've never played on English before.) I haven't tried out actually playing the game in live mode or anything like that because I'm afraid it'll break my game even more. I need to know, is this something that happened to other players, or did I somehow do something wrong?? UPDATE: I repaired the game, and now the first problem (the text with the sexual orientation and body hair bit) has been solved. The second problem still applies though.

Idk if it’s related to the patch but my sims tried to “kiss neck” and instead stood 5 ft apart, stretched their arms towards each other and made kissy faces Edit: also one of the siblings shows up as a half sibling to some siblings but a full sibling to others

I think a similar problem was already present before the patch. I had the issue before, that I changed from not aging to long lifespan and a huge amount of npcs (not the sims in my played household) died. I assumed this was due to the normal aging, and set it back to not aging. but apparently this did not work well, even though I selected that nobody (played household and npcs) should no age, npcs kept dying. I could fix it with removing the tick from the tickbox, save and then check it again. afterwards it did not happen again, that someone died. this was back on 17.07. when it happened the last time, so apparently before the new update. thanks for the warning though, obviously it got even worse, I definitely won't launch my game until there is some fix for this issue :/

I assume this could have to do with neighbourhood stories. do you have them on? I also noticed that lately deaths seem to happen more often through this feature. it's rarely from old age but from making cereal, falling of a cliff, being angry

Honetly the second bug reported where he wants to ask out his sister is so amazing imo. The reason I love the sims 2 and 3 is because random and surprising events always occur when you least expect it. If my sims 4 sim all of a sudden wanted to ask out his sister I would die laughing, ignore it ofc, but die laughing and enjoy that element of the story. Just my opinion tho lol

i tookout my mods and its still not letting me change the hair color . my mods arent broken but the colors are i cant use sliders or change colors in cas and ive tried with and without mods lol

I’m so glad I haven’t made any Sims yet (other than Guinea pigs for play testing my builds) and just focus on building up my worlds first. 😩
