Just a heads up - ANY sort of filtering has a max of 300 players. So even if you filter to only pipeline players, you’ll miss hundreds of guys if you have over 300+ pipeline recruits (you probably do!!) And sorry if this is old news - I found this out a few days ago so I felt like I HAD to make this video

Same, I get my pre season big board with my favorite prospects n work on them. Usually hours r stretched sorta thin n naturally I fall behind on a couple so when that happens I’ll drop em (usually mid season ish) n find a recruit or 2 more than however many I dropped to add, I like to get a late season add or 2 in too. Typically a gem 3 star or 4 star I find n just start throwin a Hail Mary to get em cause by that point I start gettin commits n have extra hours

The player sorting in this game is horrible. Not just in the recruiting, but in viewing rosters and viewing statistics. So many players just don't show up in National views. It's not surprising they leave out recruits, too. EA is careless.

Yeah sometimes I noticed big recruits that have high interest will be filtered out of your “recommend” due to them not being in your pipeline or other similar little things. I landed a couple 5 stars that I wouldn’t have thought to recruit just by going to “all players”.

Sometimes I over-recruit a position like WR on purpose. WRs can be good HBs or okay TEs depending on their skill set-sometimes better than what you’re able to recruit, especially if you’re with a smaller school.

I kinda noticed this when I first started playing and wasnt a fan of the star tabs. When I do this I normally do the any state tab, this way it will you show you all the prospects including athletes. You can go by position and the said positions you look at will include athletes as well.

Tip: always filter by position and Star level, then filter by “Targeting Availability”, it’s the first bar “TAR”. Do that with every star level you want and you’ll get the most bang for your buck. If you’re a top school, don’t waste your time just pick through the recommended.

Hey Max. Appreciate the videos! I had an idea for another data science driven video you could make. Unless there is a clear answer to this, which I haven't been able to find. The question to attempt to answer is how much does being a gem/normal/bust affect your development traits. Is getting a 3 star gem better in a few years than a 4 star normal or 5 star bust? Knowing how much those symbols impact a players development would be crucial knowledge to recruiting the best players/team and not necessarily the best 'ranked' class. Thanks and have a good one!

How I do recruiting is literally just go by stars anyways. If I have extra hours I will go by position by star later, most the time my only goal is to get those 2 top 5 draft classes so I get as many 5s and 4s as possible regardless of skill

I chose them completely randomly b/c I figured they were a less known school (I live in the midwest, so not very familiar with some of the western and northwestern college teams Lol) and wld be a good challenge to rebuild. Your videos are great for being so focused on the content and not padded with so exposition. In the future, a video on player progression in the offseason would be very welcome. Clearly Dev Trait plays a factor but using a save game to run the same players through offseason training multiple times produces different results. What I'm particularly curious about is whether or not there is a shared pool of progression that gets divided differently among each player, or does each player progress based on RNG + Dev?

They havent let us know how almost anything works. For instance, how does player progression work? How many skill points do you gain when your player levels up? How many skill points does it take to level up a physical ability? How do OL gain experience? What do gems/busts mean? They put a bunch of stuff in the game and didnt explain any of it because a player base that doesn’t know how systems are supposed to work wont complain when they dont work properly. Also, theres so much broken in this game its insane. Almost cant go to a screen in the game where something isnt broken, its sad. All that being said, im still enjoying it. It could just be so much better

I restarted a dynasty with kennesaw state and that filter screen has been a game changer. I stopped going for high recruits and trying to develop 3 stars for the first couple of years and I didn’t realize how many there was. I like going by position and looking for the ones that have top 5 or 8 interest

I started using the recommended tab because it started in the deep dive that the AI recruited that way and I figured, that would put us on an even playing field. But, since I only like to recruit kids that have some interest in my school anyway I may as well just move away from the recommended tab and go back to My Pipelines where I started.

Could you possibly do an experiment with scheduling visits. FendlerYT did a video recently suggesting that it may not truly be beneficial vs using those hours somewhere else. But he used Ole Miss for his trial. Doing this with a variety of sizes and types of school to see how effective it is for when you are reaching for high star players at a lower star school vs recruiting players “recommended” to you. Its always been like this. This is why you go by stats instead of just stars. 4 star is about their performance in HS. Not their abilities. Scouting is important. I've seen 5 star RBs that their speed ends up being 80. There is no 5 star skill player with 80 speed you want. Go by position and skills. Forget the stars so much.

Not the topic of the video but a couple of my friends and I have had problems with our recruiting this week in dynasty. We’d get an inst commit and when we’d load back up they’re no longer committed. Same with scouting. He’d be a gem then I load up again and he’s off my board. I’d scout again and he’s no longer a gem. The bug only started this week. Have you experienced this?

So any sort of filtering will correct this as long as the total results is less than 300 So if there are 350 prospects in CA you’d only see the 300 highest ranked ones (which is prob find since the bottom 50 are 1/2 stars since it’s all prospects in CA)

Also, are you aware that you can add 1-35 prospects at a position, then go to my school, playing time, and whoever has the best letter grade is the highest overall (sometimes there's 1-5 players with with A+) at that position? If it's 12 guys with C- and one A+, you know he's the best overall. If there's a handful with A+ after a full board, you know those are the highest overall. You can then scout the guys with a tie in letter grade to see who you want. No more needless scouting. I'm like 65-69 overall 3stars, which isn't bad. I test ran it for one season with recommended only. I'm sure you could expand this to other search parameters.

The player database filtering and searching in this game is insanely undercooked. It would be so simple for EA to add better SQL queries (since that's really all they are). Like why can't I filter by pipeline in the search tab? These types of things are NOT hard to do during development and I don't get why they are not added.

It blows my mind that people recruit by grabbing the best overall players, regardless of position, rather than recruiting the best players at positions of need to have balanced classes. I'm trying to have the best team I can have every year, not just the random years that the stars align and the list of "best players" that I grabbed, happen to be fairly balanced. The goal should never be to have the top ranked recruiting class, it should be to improve your team across the board.

I have found that there is so much positional flexibility that I can get away with it I’d rather get a 4 star 75 overall SS and convert him into a 73 linebacker bc I need him there than recruit a 72/73 ovr linebacker Because now not only did I end up with the exact same result, but the converted player likely has a higher development ceiling and better physical attributes
