Honestly the sims game is a casual game, it's not competitive and you don't need skills to actually play this game. I'm going to piss people off but in my opinion a casual game is a game which doesn't actually require skills to play and it isn't competitive. I love the sims as much as the next person but people are coming from deligracy and getting offended he called it a casual game. Only now that a big KZbinr has reacted to this are people up in arms. I love Deli, don't get me wrong, but she has no reason to complain because she gets packs for free. This is my opinion.

I miss when the Sims really felt like a game. A sort of win or lose challenge. I miss wanting to make sure my sims stay alive, making sure they can pay the bills, being on the edge of my seat during a robbery. It used to be a fun life simulator but then became this trendy app-like game where you literally just do things to see your sims act out an animation. All the DLC is boring, it doesn't introduce any new challenge, the game is just...there. The game used to feel like an unpredictable life simulator with a sort of dark humor but now it's this polished up baby game where you just click on stuff

The game just badly programmed because open world makes the game crashes every 1 minute of playing. You need a better PC and even then no guarantees you can play the island paradise pack. It sucks, but sims 3 still better than the 4th.

And also the fact that you can see where your Sims is going (every city had a school, city hall, grocery store where you could buy ingredients, book store, etc). And also this gave players the ability to control sims in different places (like when one sim is at the gym and the other is at home). Thanks to open world we could ride horses, drive cars, the most beautiful and realistic worlds we ever had in the Sims franchise. I prefer having one loading screen at the beginning of the game than having loading screens everywhere I go.

Taylor Honestly, same. I kind of wish I hadn't gotten nearly every expansion pack before The Sims 4 came out though because now everything is permanently 50% off xD But seriously. Every sims game was a drastic improvement upon the last... Until the Sims 4. No horses, no create-a-style, no open world, and the DLC contributes the absolute bare minimum to your game. Plus everything else I can't remember that was really great about previous sims games that they just threw out the window.

Not....really. Yeah, it would suck to not play a game you love, but if no one buys it, it forces EA to do better. Like the video said, sales are already tanking compared to past games and sometimes that's not something a company can recover. Furthermore, there are so many great past series in this franchise, you really don't HAVE to play the new ones to enjoy it. (Seriously. I have yet to play 4 and probably never will because, as this video points out, they've removed so much content that it honestly looks bland. Adding "emotions" shouldn't force the game to have even less content than the freakin FIRST game that came out in 2000. There's literally no excuse for that.

I never understand people using performance as an excuse to defend the lack of open world. It was 2014, almost 2015. Sims 3 came out in 2009, sure it had some lag issues, but the point of a future iteration is to IMPROVE. Instead saying "it can cause issues so lets not do it", why not "we'll make sure to optimize it better so there's no issues this time". What kind of lame decision is that just to scrap the most ambitious part of s3 and act like it never existed. Modern technology is great, my 2013 computer runs sims 3 with no lag and all expansion packs + cc. It's either budget cuts or laziness, anyway they messed up.

Late, but I agree. If mod makers can "fix" the lag issues (NRAAS and AwesomeMod) and make the game playable, then there was no reason why EA couldn't do the same. They just didn't want to do it. Back at launch it was rumored that Sims 4 originally was meant for a mobile game, but I don't know if that was true or only rumor.

i find that there is an interesting divide between the sims community and the rest of the gaming community. the regular gamers aren't aware of the scope of the sims community, especially how insanely big the modding community is. the fans are aware of ea greed, in fact it's been a source of frustration since pretty much the early 00's. but they can't do anything about it, ea doesn't listen and they don't care. there are people who will always buy the stupid stuff packs, parents who'll buy it for their kids who don't know anything about games or other casuals like older people who just wanna build a cute house on the weekend. here's an interesting thing, you can find community made stuff packs for the sims 4, that are a million times better than what ea shits out, which are free and made in protest by the community because of ea's greed. and still, ea doesn't care. another interesting thing i never hear people outside the sims community talk about, is how ea literally RELIES on the modding community to populate the game. they never put in enough clothing, furniture or hair styles because they know that in a month after the game is out, there will be hundreds of items created by fans. another thing is the art style and creative direction in the game absolutely sucks and has sucked forever, to the point where fans have "re-skinned" pre release screenshots just to see how it will look like with custom content. the game is being creatively remade by literal 19 year olds in college who create amazing 3d objects in their free time, a million times better looking than actual employees at ea.

Because people are obsessed with the laundry from ts3 for some reason and wanted it in their game. They should have voted for some of the other interesting eco choices because they would have eventually put laundry in anyway. One of the choices was bee keeping though, so they did add that to Seasons anyway which was good. Although, I am sure they would have done tons more with it like the nectar making in TS3 because they also had the choices of canning and preserving your own crops so they probably would have combined that in to something nice. There were also some other cool choices.

The worse thing about all this is when the Sims 5 comes out, you'll have to buy pets, weather, holidays, dating, jobs, uni all over again. All you have to do is compare the worlds to see how they are making everything smaller. Sims 3: Large worlds, completely open, and a free downloadable program called Create a World. Sims 4: 2-6 closed lots to build on, no way to create your own world. New releases are supposed to be improvements. The only things about Sims 4 that are new that I've enjoyed have been the ability to create clubs and the ability to go to work with Sims. They SHOULD be recreating great things about previous games along with new ideas. At this point, I don't want a Sims 5. I don't want to keep throwing money at EA. I want a competitor who listens to frustrated fans and gives them what they want out of a life simulation game, with reasonable DLC. Much like Cities: Skylines did with SimCity. Cities: Skylines is beyond superior.

It's because there is no real competition for the series. The people behind it get greedy and complacent because they don't have to worry because their consumers can't get what they offer anywhere else. I truly hope that the rumors of Paradox Interactive making a The Sims like game are true because that would be great for everyone. I don't get why anybody would get offended by the word "casual player" I am one and I'm in all honesty infuriated by EA tacticts. They are trying to make more money with less and less content each year and that includes not just the Sims franchise. They are sadly going to run this game into the ground and I feel so helpless to just stand by and watch my favourite game being ruined. They did the same with SimCity and that broke my heart but thankfully we got another developer that created a similar game (Cities Skylines) that saved the city building genre from dying out. Sean Gotts the thing is ITS SEASONSS the reason there isn’t that much new objects is because the designers had to go through and edit EVERY TREE BUSH AND FLOWER so when the seasons change they change too. There may not seem like a lot but there is a lot of stuff. I mean they had to program and redesign everything for when it snows and rains, that’s why there isn’t that many objects that are brand new. They had to edit all of the previous objects from all of the other packs too

I still remember the hot rage I felt so many years back when I finally saw what Sims 4 was going to release as. With stripped down features, the total 180 they did in terms of innovation(somehow managing to become less than Sims 3 and lesser than SIms 2), making alot of the Sims 3 vanilla features DLC content and making Sims 4 much harder to roleplay in due to the sheer lack of features. There really isn't much point to do anything in SIms 4, the game is too easy even for a casual game, imo. I remember having to role-play as a household consisting of a grandfather and his toddler grandson the first time I played Sims 3, by the time the gramps was dead the boy was a teenage and the sole member of the household. He had to do part time job, keep up with school, pay them bills. I played that household through 6 or 7 generations I think... I guess the point I'm making is even if you were to sit down and play Sims 3 right now full vanilla, the game has sufficient content to keep you engaged for alot longer than Sims 4 ever could.

Lapdot but the juice box is of prune juice, and your character will get sad when they drink it. For better juice you have to get the Better Juices Pack for $49.99. But since that is the only drink in the game your character will die of too much sugar, so you need to buy the Water pack for $99.99, but your character will also get sad when they drink it. It's looking back that really makes me sad about the franchise. I'm nearly 21 and I've played The Sims since I was about 6. I loved The Sims 2 and even though The Sims 3 had its problems, by the time all the expansions came out it was a fantastic game. Then when The Sims 4 was first announced I was really excited and thought that it might be an upgrade. Sadly, it seemed I'd forgotten that EA was more interested in money by this point and it turned out to be one disappointment after the next. I never liked the cartoony look (though I admit that's more of a personal preference than a general view) or all the dropped core features. Even before the game was released I was sure I wasn't buying it and even now, with all the expansions I'm not buying it. They are really half-hearted attempts; the Seasons one is arguably the "best" but it is still very weak compared with The Sims 3 Seasons. I just hope that if the game is ever renewed for a Sims 5, EA is under new management. Hopefully then it will be someone who actually listens to fans and knows what the buyers want. Unfortunately I'm not holding my breath.

Yep, it's why I don't buy The Sims 4. The price tag on the entire game right now is about $500 and I am pretty sure some of those DLC are now lower priced compared to when they first came out. Also, yes the content created in these DLC is actually really easy to make. Even from scratch, it's not difficult. It might seem difficult to those who don't know how to do it, but if you learn blender for example and get decent at using the program. You can make a new object probably in less than an hour or two. However, a lot of the DLC doesn't even include new modeled content. A lot of it is just retextured stuff. Which, is something that can be done in minutes.

Okay so here’s the tea I LOVE create a sim in the sims 4, but I HATE the gameplay, this is opposite to the sims 3 where create a sim is horrible but the rest is mostly really enjoyable. The creators vision for the sims when it started out was to make a simulated world where you could build your own houses and also build a life for your sims. Now they have completely lost the original vision which was so much better and instead started to focus entirely on making as much money as possible. It’s really sad and they should listen to the fans and bring back the old charm the game CLEARLY had. This is also proven by the fact that every real fan of the sims prefer the sims 2, because it was BETTER. Thank you if you read the whole thing I appreciate you lol.

I'm going to be cautiously optimistic. E.g. they've shown a height slider and everyone was like, "omg revolutionary", but from a practical programming perspective... What will this do to the game? Will you as a player be willing to ignore the awkward clipping and glitches in animations for the sake of having heights that differ from one another in millimeters? Even if you assume they'll incorporate a separate animation to account for every single milimeter of height difference, what will this mean for the performance? And this is just one thing. Don't get me wrong I'm excited for the Sims to finally have competition. However, the last thing I want is for the batshit insane Sims fandom to ruin the game before launch due to their innumerable expectations.

The Sims 3 is way more expensive than the Sims 4. I'm pretty sure when it was in it's prime it would be close to a 1000 dollars or maybe even more just to get the whole game. Expansion and stuff packs, all sims 3 store dlc, worlds... Just so much stuff.

I defend most other DLC decisions, even when they aren't something I will buy personally. But this one was released far sooner than was appropriate. If it came at the tail end of the Sims 4's lifespan, it would probably be okay, since Dogs and Cats sold really well. But coming this early leads one to believe that they just held stuff out of the expansion. I didn't even buy it during this sale, even after getting the Jungle Adventure pack that I said I had no interest in (through no fault of it's own. I just never cared for the vacation or adventure packs in any of the other Sims games).

Weather should have been part of the base game, but we didn’t even get a life state at launch. We still don’t have robbers or firemen. Without mods, the Sims would be dead. The vanilla game is lack luster. The new seasons pack is sparse. It’s mostly calendars, and simple weather. It’s not worth $40. There is not $40 worth of content in the new EP. as a major Sims 2 fan, this is so sad. Most of us are not complaining because we hate this game, we are critiquing EA’s practices because we have been with this series for literal years, and want this game to be the best it can be.

I’m fine with supporting CC Creators by buying them a coffee or something... I even buy stuff from paysites. The thing is, it is higher quality than what EA gives us, for 50x less the price. I can also get these Packs which cost probably $5, that include tons of Build/Buy items, CAS Items, and so many other things. EA doesn’t support CC because of this. My sister and I have collectively spent over $300 on Sims 4 alone last time I checked (the game was originally a Christmas present for me right after it came out from my parents and since then my sister and I split every DLC that we want that comes out).
