I enjoy being able to play both Dirt Rally 2.0 and EA WRC! EA WRC has by far the better FFB and steering feel! Dirt Rally 2.0 has by far better visuals and performance! Both games have strengths and weaknesses, both are very enjoyable and both have really annoying quirks like FFB and physics on tarmac. It’s so bad that I just don’t use the tarmac stages in either of the games. I only play racing sims in VR and I have a high end PC and EA WRC doesn’t look good, but the details coming through my DD2 are a lot more satisfying than DR2.0. It’s a shame both games come with compromises, but overall both games are awesome!

I really wanted to like this game but EA just does their best to prevent that. Optimization is still non-existent and for me to get a consistent 60 FPS, I have to make the game look like something from 2010 and even then, the texture pop-in and stutters are still there. I have a Ryzen 5 2600 CPU + RX 5600 XT GPU, not the newest hardware out there but it has no problems with newer titles on high settings 1080p like Baldur's Gate 3, Metro Exodus etc. But here comes EA SPORTS WRC with graphics from the 2010s and system requirements of the 2030s. The kernel anti-cheat is just the final nail in the coffin of this pile of garbage, not only did it screw over Linux and Steamdeck users, it reportedly made the game less stable even on Windows machines. I may sound really angry, but really I'm just incredibly sad. I'm sad that the sequel to one of my favorite franchises is just a terrible cash grab. Pre order to play on early access, after few months it's taking dust. Graphic engine looks terrible even at max detail (although you can gain some sharpness and detail using Reshade and CAS and Luma sharpen). the tarmac still feels very wrong, with the cars feeling very floaty and not feeling weight transfers. And the cars rotating on a central pivot still in 2024 is a cheap wap to implement cars physics model in a video game. To be honest it was the same model on dirt rally 2, which i loved honesty, but that's a cheap way to recycle old tech and hiding it in a modern graphic engine, which managed to look terrible anyway! Such a disappointment. Force feedback though is good, quite detailed. Preferring AC mods for rally and RBR, those are great.
@NPlay642 ай бұрын
Initial impression must have been shocking during early access, especially having a completely refined DR2.0 on the library. EA-WRX was in a bad shape even when I joined months after the official release. Some essential things became fixed by Q3 2024 but I agree it doesn't look pretty after all. The central pivot rotation is a very interesting and correct remark. Playing Coddie rallies since the late '90s I guess it was always like that way, since CMR. Okay there are more realistic ways considering physics but it has worked for decades for them so maybe keeping one leg in the arcade world to some degree is a tradition decision, I don't know. Have you played BeamNG.drive? I think it has a bloody amazing physics engine. If only it took itself more seriously as a racing sim. I drive rally games for a sideways dancing car :D EA-WCR is more realistic but for me, for the danciness DR2.0 is just more fun. I can absolutely understand if someone's thing is realism, those sim fans can enjoy WRC titles more or the wonderful ruthlessness of RBR or BeamNG. Anyway it is just great that we have many options. You absolutely have a point and I'm all into shorter stages, still in the reality, especially considering older rallies, this is more realistic. On a footnote: I know it's not a sim at all but I played The Crew games for the very same reason: hillclimb anywhere, also for cannonball runs, coast-to-coast. Endurance time attack challenges on a changing scenery have a very special feel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eniTg3Sop7eprZYsi=QxhC_8CWEks2uWBh

@@NPlay64 Have you tried Dirt Rally 2 in VR? looks and performs great.
@NPlay642 ай бұрын
@@rodriguezkev Yep it is so bloody awesome in VR but I haven't played it that way for long since I threw up in BeamNG.drive and on the same momentum the following day I lent my Oculus to a friend playing HL Alyx last year :)

@@NPlay64 lol. I've finally got my VR legs and can play for hours no prob. When I first started couldn't play for more than a couple of minutes before feeling sick.

@@rodriguezkev Yep a gradual adjustment to VR worked nicely to me in the case of DR2.0, too. I believed that I'm all set. Then I tested BeamNG flying all around on a rollercoaster rally stage. Everything was fine then motion sickness hit me like a mule very suddenly. I could not even get out the PlaySeat before I became reintroducet to my dinner. After that lending the Rift to a friend maybe was a rush decision :D He completely stuck in VR. On a footnote he really should buy a VR headset for himself after all this time. But that's just so me. I lent so many things to friends during the years: motorcycle helmets, racing wheels, guitars, computers... never seen again. Fuck that, instead of "lending" let's call it "gifting" :D

Grafik like PS4 not new generation joke 😂

:D DR2 eats it alive in that department. Not to mention GFX-accented titles like Forza and the like. Maybe it's just me but damn I think even some Grid games looked better back in the days. But for mechanincs at least it seems to work for me. Quite a step-up compared to the pre-parches "I'm racing on a sleeping mirror" feel :D

DR2.0 physics are total rubbish.

Physics sucks. In general. Any cosmologist can tell.
