We are not able to do the kind of fishing and hiking like we did when we we younger (we’ve been married since 1970, so we had a lot of great adventures in the wilderness). Totally enjoying your SUV and tenkara videos. Well done videos and you are such a respectful fisherman and outdoorsman. Thank you so much. Your videos are the best way to end the day…good thoughts and memories to fall asleep on.

Hadn't fished in several years. Bait casting wasn't doing it for me. Started watching Tenkara addict You Tube videos. Purchased two nice Tenkara rods and the rest is history. I'm loving angling again. Thanks.

Tenkara Addict fishing in Iowa…practically in my own backyard! Hope you enjoyed your visit! Speaking from personal experience, clear skies and calm conditions make that creek a tough challenge unless you’re right at sunrise or sunset. So easy to spook those brookies.

I just want to tell you that I found your channel about 2 months ago. I had never heard of tenkara and I wasn't looking for it. I live in western Washington and have purchased a rod and flies and am getting out there a bunch! I have learned so much! Thank you so much and keep the videos coming! They are great!!!

Bought a couple Tenkara rods a couple years ago and haven’t used them until now. Haven’t fished in 5 years due to taking care of my folks. Went to Tuolumne in Yosemite last Thursday, I live just outside of the park. First time using a Tenkara rod and caught a beautiful little native rainbow on a kabari that I tied. It was an awesome feeling, thank you for your videos that kept me going.

Glad you had luck in our great state of Iowa. Yes we have trout; Stocked Rainbows, naturally reproducing browns and natural reproducing and native brookies. There are even some tiger trout. Iowa has 500 miles of cold water streams and 120 miles of public access trout streams. All in the Driftless region. I hope you had a chance to swing into Decorah and enjoy some local food. Also, hope you had the opportunity to fish in other areas of the Driftless.

In the northeast we were taught to approach those meadow streams on our hands and knees, but that's very difficult if you have never been there before

Brook Trout are my favorite trout ( not a trout but a char) to fly cast too. I live in the North East. My home waters are heavily fished and stocked thou we do have streams with wild fish populations. But you have to hike a bit to get to them. It looks like you are in that region of the country known as the Driftless. I am planning to fish the Area, Mostly Wisconsin after Labor day. and catch the fall runs of salmon and steelhead and come home a day or two before the Rifle Deer Season that starts on November 1. That is a nice little creek. It's getting into the summer time and that means ants Beatles and hopper patterns. My old Scot 8' G 2wt gets a lot of use. I like the thin water conditions. I will be making a swing thru Northern NH, VT and over to NY Adirondacks, lots of little streams, and 6 million acres if you are willing to walk a bit you can fish and not see another all day. Best of all it's warm enough for wet wading.

I thought for sure your next fishing vid would be in central Oregon because your SUV RVing channel left off near there. That’s where I live and some great native red band trout fishing here. Oh well, great video anyway can’t wait too see where you fish next!

It is a different environment to fish than in most of your videos. The lack of trees makes for less cover and fewer tangles. It was enjoyable to see a new type of creek.

I have the Maxcatch zoom and so far for the money I think it’s ok. Tenkara is not my main fishing but I do enjoy it. On my local river there is a lot of tree cover so the shorter zoom rod is ideal. At its longest length I find it is a good nymphing rod. Anybody looking for a a shorter zoom rod on a budget should give it consideration. Over here in the UK the US rods of equivalent length are pricey when you add in the postage and customs duty. That looked another great stream. Keep up the great videos

I am considering purchasing the MaxCatch Triple Zoom rod, and would love to hear more of it. I have a 12' MaxCatch tenkara rod. But I think it's stiff. But I have never used another tenkara rod for comparison so I really don't know.

Thanks for another awesome Video! 👍🙂 I own the MAXCATCH Triple Zoom 10'8/11'10/13'9, and I absolutely love it! I think it's every bit the equal to the TenkaraUSA Sato, and I have caught lots of trout from 7" on smaller creeks up to a 3 pound 24" Rainbow on the Frying Pan. It's a nice rod for the $$.

Love the videos and I am seriously thinking about adding a Tenkara set up along with my typical fly gear. I know you mentioned you are a ‘lazy’ fisherman at times and we are all guilty of that but wo tree cover you really have to be cognizant of that sun behind you. If you can, try and fish with it facing you, i know tougher to spot fish, but at this stage you have the knack as to where the fish would position in stream so you can cast to a spot and keep them a bit more blind to your presence. Great vids and keep up the exploring!

That was a very interesting - and lovely - stream. Neat to see brook trout in a spring-fed meadow stream. Where I fish for them here in the east, it tends to be a fish of steep gradient rock-bound mountain creeks. Thanks for this episode - very nice!

The water is so slow moving, I’m surprised that there are trout in it. In summer, you’d think the water would be so warm that it would be not be conducive to good trout fishing.
@tenkaraintheiowadriftless
@tenkaraintheiowadriftless 2 жыл бұрын
Not as slow moving as it appears in this video. If you saw the narrow runs in between the pools you’d get a better appreciation for the flow. As far as temperature, this area is not far from the spring fed source and the water stays cold year round (do a search on “algific talus” and you’ll understand why). That said, there are Driftless creeks long enough that they warm in the hot summer sun to the point fishing must cease to avoid endangering the fish. One or two cool days and these creeks are fishable again.

That's the same anywhere you go. You could be on the greatest trout stream in the world and one guy will clean house. The next doesn't really know how to catch and might luck into a few a year. Then he'll tell you how crappy the fishing is there. The only way to know is to find out for yourself.
