“Heart” is a faculty that thinks/understands and is the seat of soul. In some of the most poetic verses of surah Al-Nur(Verse 35). Quran describes Soul as Light and heart as a Mirror. If the mirror is unclean due to horrible character, then the light from soul cannot be reflected thru the dusty mirror. Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) said:” I was not sent but to perfect human character”. So only way to clean the mirror of heart and allow the light of Allah to reflect is to improve one’s moral character via complete submission to Allah(one/indivisible) and worship is the ultimate expression of love.

@@DhruveDahiya that’s called playing games. You know very well what is right in the eyes of a council of mothers and grandmothers, or God. We can play games debating whether God exists, but it matters not. In order to uphold morality you better pray God is real. Without judgement there can only be madness. Even if there is no God or force of good, you can make the choice to be the force of good in the universe, because you can be.

The title drew me in to watch this video. As you mentioned Jung in this video I want to share a quote from him: “One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. The latter procedure, however, is disagreeable and therefore not popular.” ― C.G. Jung Thank you though. I think there are many ways to do it, light or dark depending on the uniqueness of the individual. Huberman mentions many times the word "peace", also elaborating on it. Everytime he said it in the video I felt peace. 😄 My way is the dark way, yet there has to be a balance. One just cannot live exploring the dark parts of the unconscious (mind) daily, continuously. There has to be order in my life or else there will be only chaos and destruction, and that it not a habitable place in my experience. Believing though I'll find Peace when the process is complete (going voluntarily to the dark forest of the mind and to finally relax completely whether there is lightness or darkness present in me). Oh.. a long post.. But what I liked about this video that it wasn't focused too much on the biological side of things and the brain considering that it had a brain scientist featured! This is coming from a layman. I am not a scientist nor at the moment really much anything else. Perhaps a musician in the future. Thank you so much for the enlightening conversation!

The darker voices are usually the negative patterns you’ve picked up from your parents or a surrogate that can echo from generation to generation. There are usually some positives to the negative patterns we inherit, but typically it has diminishing returns and doesn’t allow you to find true happiness

I believe in the integration of the shadow into consciousness, for heightened morality. But some people seem to think it's good to integrate the shadow into your personality. I would be very careful about that because you might literally end up in hell. Morality is the intuitive inclination in the face of ultimate reality; as soon as you move against morality, you obscure your perception of reality and your mind falls into a form of darkness. This is a sin we all have committed, we are all in some degree of darkness and none of us are enlightened. We should not make it worse.

Some people are just entirely superficial. And that is a negative aspect of society, and individual psychology. And it is a product of consumerism and materialism, collectively speaking. In every single kind of political or economic system. In other words its part of human nature and politics and economics seeks to control and address it. We are all superficial in some way but some of us have integrated that part of our psyche into more altruistic ideals and concepts or archetypes. Some have not.

How do you step back and laugh if you don't think it's funny? That seems disingenuous and trying to find a grain of humor amidst everything.. well, it just seems like something someone would say in a condescending cavalier sort of way, like I don't believe anyone who is honest with one's self does that. To me, it's a "do as I say not as I do" concept! Anyone's response would be appreciated. I'm curious about what others think especially Lex and Andrew. To me the real epiphany was realizing that the brain plays tricks on you all the time. Over and over it makes you worry unnecessarily because of your conditioning and because it tries to keep you safe. Once you can see the absurdity of this process then you can watch it like a play and view the whole thing as silly… and that’s freedom IMO.
@m9m471
@m9m471 9 ай бұрын
@nratter Yeh.. trick or hallucination? Our concept of reality is for sure one big assumption based on information from our senses and recognizing the patterns of information we get from them... but using humor as a response, well, it's like another trick or hallucination, so it's like tricking the trick? Or hallucinating the hallucination? It seems like to respond with laughter, you are recognizing the seriousness, and that in itself makes it serious. On another note, I feel like the comments/conversation on Lex's youtube channel and the video/podcast it's self is really helping with the programming of A.I. all this deep thought into human consciousness... just a thought.
@nratter

@@m9m471 I think the difference is if you find humor in it as opposed to forcing laughter. It's more about understanding things which can lead to a new perspective where you simply see the absurdity of it all and not using laughter as a recipe to 'fix' things.

The laughter is the byproduct of a higher understanding that, once gained, puts every occurrence into a different perspective. Consider a dream in which you're a dog roaming the streets of your city looking for food. Now consider that you became conscious that you were merely having a dream.
