Great problem solving. Note that since this video, I have encountered another plane who's ailerons did not function but was still in 4-channel mode. After tearing the plane apart I discovered that it was the transmitter that was faulty. I tried an identical duplicate TX and the ailerons worked fine. Dissembled the plane for nothing (heh heh). Happy flying!

Hey thanks! Good to hear from you bud. How the FC senses the presence of the servo eludes me. In this case a servo that had worked before the magic smoke escaped now no longer was sensed (although it works OK on a tester). The servo I replaced it with was a standard one not from Eachine but it works OK, go figure!

@@1nformatica It is a curiosity as to what the trigger is to identify a servo present. I can only assume some code got zapped or a tiny cap or resistor was damaged. At least servos are cheap, and it's possible the "damaged" servo may still prove useful with another brand receiver like Eflite. Everyone have a great one over there! Peace and good health to all.

You have solved my problem Sir! I have the P51 and the F4U, but now the Spitfire is out and I decided I had to have one! Waited for the price to come down to a level that is more reasonable and then clicked on the button. Arrived yesterday, but found it had the three channel config (although I had forgotten about this "feature"). Wanted to check how the board looked and whether it was maybe that the aileron servo was not plugged in. Came across your first video on taking the PTQ apart and then saw that you had the exact same scenario I was seeing, with the aileron stick controlling rudder. Looked in your comments and saw posts from Oz tree crasher and Airdog. I have seen lots of their posts on RCgroups too. Really knowledgeable guys. Anyway, this encouraged me to take a look into the plane (Eachine now include hatches to make access easier!). Long story short, duff aileron servo. Banggood have been asked to supply a replacement and when it eventually arrives I will be able to fly my new toy! Thank you again for posting your videos. They really helped me sort out the issues.

I fly my Eachine models with an OpenTX transmitter with 4-in-1 Multi-protocol module. In the V761 protocol setup, there is an option for 3 channel and 4 channel modes. Doesn't help with the supplied transmitters, but they were the wrong mode (stick arrangement) for me, so I never used them.

I'm perplexed. I got two flights on my P51 and then no aileron travel. It does have the other three channels working. I was going to buy another one thinking that at least I'll have spare parts but what if the 2nd gets the same problem. It's not so easy to tear into one of these and try to troubleshoot with limited electronic knowledge. At least with an ARF you can usually get into each component fairly easily. Think I'll box it, shelf it, put the $110 towards something else. Thanks for the video.

Getting into the guts is not that difficult as I show in another video : kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2G8npqOn9Jnqck It could be a loose or broken wire on the aileron servo. You can test by swapping the servo plugs around. Be brave! It is the only way to learn! Thanks for watching, have a great day!

Thanks for this video! I bought two of these receivers to build custom planes (I was really impressed by my P51 and F4U flight stability). But I also have the problem, that only 3 channels activate, even though the connected aileron servo moves correctly through all positions initially. From the hardware, I wouldn't expect a too sophisticated detect-mechanism of the servo, so I simply tried pullups and pulldowns to "signal" at 3k3, 1k and 470 Ohms - To no avail.. :( After that, I tried a 10k pot to give something between GND and Vbat when not powered, also no success. As far as I see, GND and Vbat are directly connected to the servo-port, so the only way the receiver can "sense" a connected servo is the counter-reaction to "signal", no overall current sense. Probably you don't have an intact servo at hand right now, but it would be interesting to know the resistances of the original, unconnected servo between signal and Vcc/Gnd and also a diode-check in any direction from signal to the rails. I will try to catch with a scope how the receiver probes the servo-port initially by letting it float on mid-level with 2 soft resistors and give an update here if I succeed. But maybe it's something the processor reads back when moving the servo initially to both extreme limits. Thanks again for your documentation of this issue from Germany, Stefan

I have been wondering how it sense the presence of a servo as well! I guess the servo is driven by an I/O pin on the processor so it drives the servo then monitors the input for some kind of feedback signal. It seems to be a bit "flaky" as it fails to detect all servos. The servo I replaced the "faulty" one with was one of these : bit.ly/4xServo1mmJST There appears to be nothing "special" about the servo.

@@1nformatica Scanning the internet, I found another page describing a workaround but unfortunately not giving the root-cause. Your video was mentioned, too :) befinitiv.wordpress.com/2021/05/04/eachine-mustang-p-51d-aileron-servo-repair/ So, I'm still thinking it has something to do with the initial movements of the 4th CH servo. Like it's reporting hitting a "limit-switch" only when min/max is reached. In my (intact) P51, it seems the aileron-servos signal can be probed by a needle through the ventilation intake. I'll let you and your viewers know, when I find out more in a week, month, or even a year or two ;) kzbin.info/www/bejne/p16cnIOhqJV8nKc

Bought fu4 corsair, realgood flyer out of the box, paired then with tx16s edget and worked real good, then tried to see how the stunt button worked on the originsl transmitter and re-calibrated the tx and play with combinations of clicks and presses until the receiver board changed into 3 channel mode??? I havent troubleshoot yet.. Maybe the aileron servo fried or probably you can change between modes from the transmitter with a "hidden" stick combo. I will try recvonect aileron servo to see whatsup. THANKS for the information in this video..... UPDATE. I checked and aileron servo is mulfuntioning, (to much stress in my stunt roll tests) so when I manipule the aileron servo when connecting the battery the Rx board changes from 3 to four channel mode, so definitely when ail servo goes out then rudder takes over. Isn't that freaking clever??

I don't know for sure but I think it is for a GPS module like this : es.banggood.com/Eachine-E520S-GPS-WiFi-FPV-RC-Drone-Quadcopter-Spare-Parts-Geomagnetic-Compass-Module-p-1562308.html?gmcCountry=ES¤cy=EUR&cur_warehouse=CZ&createTmp=1&ad_id=&gclid=Cj0KCQiA5NSdBhDfARIsALzs2EB7kGXeosO3RTdAmeinPQoMZki_kvDUDdOHIEIz2O8rlYJmPHKuFsUaAuZbEALw_wcB This controller is used in many Eachine / Volantex models. A bit late to the party but... All of a sudden the aileron servo on my new Volantex P51 has stopped working properly. Oddly, if I pull the elevator back and activate the ailerons it will work...briefly...then stop functioning again. Any easy fix? The first flights with this little bird were amazing - then yesterday I launched it (with a touch up up elevator). It launched, rose, then suddenly banked hard right and cartwheeled. I'm supposing based on your video that I'll have to replace the servo? I'm bummed because I just got this and have only had one good day of flying it before this happened. PS...the above link to purchase parts doesn't seem to work.
@1nformatica Жыл бұрын
They're great when they work, but then............ If it's new you should contact your supplier. A way to help diagnose is to swap the servos around. It seems no one can explain how the controller detects if a servo is connected to the aileron channel to set the appropriate mode. It's a bit flaky! Good luck" Thanks for watching, have a great day!
