Eagle Ragefest! - F-15 Arrival @ NMUSAF

This was by far the most visceral thing I've ever experienced. If you want to keep your hearing, do NOT stand under the glideslope during low approaches. This F-15 from the Massachusetts Air National Guard arrived at the Museum for its final flight before being put on static display. Its historical significance comes from having shot down two MiG-29 Fulcrums at the hands of now retired Col. Jeff "Claw" Hwang during Operation Allied Force in the Kosovo Conflict in 1999. Here, the F-15C 86-0156 is piloted by Lt. Col. Matthew "Beast" Tanis (who is now my favorite person, by the way) for its final flight. He definitely gave it one heck of a last ride.

I gotta say, I'm am very pleased that the USAF decided to continue this magnificent airframes history with the F15-EX Eagle 2. A world without the F15 just doesn't sit right with me.

@dansffospottingandetc I'm not sure if it was one of the new production eagles, but Saturday last week, camping at the hideaway campground in Socastie South Carolina, one flew over low and slow. I believe from the Myrtle Beach Airport. It had an awesome black paint job. I was so excited that I didn't think to get my phone out and record it. Boy was she beautiful.

fanatstic i used to watch this F-15c & others flying out of Raf Lakenheath with the 493rd fs until they were sadly replaced by the F-35 but thankgod theirs still 2 squadrons of F-15E's flying out of Lakenheath,fantastic footage its great its being preserved

Great unique footage, it wasn’t long ago I was watching that same aircraft over here in the U.K. raging around RAF Lakenheath with the 493rd FS , in fact that jet transferred back to the U.S. just over a year ago. The F35 has taken its place , not quite the same and it doesn’t have the same pull as the F15C for me to do a 2 hour drive to see it . Incidentally, the pilot ‘Beast’ had a lucky escape out of a D model when it departed and came down in a field a few miles from Lakenheath a few years back .

Yeah, the F-35 doesn't have anywhere near the appeal of a classic fighter like the F-15. I managed to see an F-35 demo recently at an airshow, but the F-15 still takes the cake!

Sure thing! These aircraft can't land overweight so as to not damage the landing gear, so here the pilot is flying extra pattern work so as to burn off all the excess fuel. Plus, this is the last time this airframe will ever fly, so some celebration in the form of extra flying is in order.

This makes me cross. The local air base RNAS Culdrose has its fencing bolstered up by wood. One hanger looks to have completely collapsed. Even the HMS SEAHAWK granite sign, the letters have fallen off. We've lost a museum full of awesome cold war planes. Yet, these F15s on afterburner, "go around".

Way to dis a legend. Wow. Eastern equipment like this has handled Russian tech well the past 50 years and will continue to do so. Russians wish they had something comparable in terms of tech and tactics. Even their newest SU-57 is lacking and nowhere ready for combat. We are seeing first hand their inferiority in Ukraine. The flanker series is impressive but good looks and handling don’t mean much when your military is a mess. That will happen with an evil, corrupt government with imperial, unrealistic ambitions that also succeeded in uniting the world against them.

I'm too young unfortunately to remember seeing a real F-15 demo, but the 159th Fighter Wing "Bayou Militia" does fly a two-ship F-15 performance at many airshows now. Be on the lookout, I know they're at my local show (Dayton) this year!

@@dansffospottingandetc They F-15C model demo was insane… really showcased raw power and climb rate of the Eagle! They then started using the heavier F-15E for demos, but it wasn’t as cool! The Bayou Militia is the closest to the original demo!
