Randy and Bernie never got the credit they truly deserved. Good Lord, Bernie Leadon could play anything with strings on it...guitar, mandolin, pedal steel, auto harp, you name it. And Randy Meisner could hit notes that dogs couldn't even hear. His high falsetto could shatter glass 2 blocks away.

I agree this is Gold but that’s just gay. I still love the intro for the current one. That said.. I’m sorry. It truly is a brilliant song, and I love how you get to hear Frey’s voice and then Henley’s which gives an amazing transition to their songs. Love the Eagles.

Not many new material or albums were produced after Randy’s quitting in late ‘77, and Eagles became predominantly a band doing covers or re-runs of the hits from when Bernie and Randy were in the band!

I agree. For me, the original Eagles were the best. There was something pure and inspired in their music--and they really delivered. Later incarnations of the band became more sophisticated, but the heart of the band, its greatest, simplest energy, came from the originals.

Great song! I was there on that concert (The Eagles played 11 songs), on 1973.03.09 Popgala Vliegermolen Voorburg, The Netherlands, It was the first performance from The Eagles outside America, their first tour in Europe and this concert was the first one from the European tour. They performed this evening for the First Time Ever "Tequila Sunrise" and "Outlaw Man". Very special concert! 2 days concert together with Rory Galagher, The Who, Rod Stewart and the Faces, Slade, Chi Coltrane, Ry Cooder, Colin Blunstone and Argent, wonderful to see them play!

It sounds the same when they recorded it again in 2006. They never changed but perhaps you left them behind. Long Road out of Eden is one of the greatest albums of the past 2 decades.

Glenn Frey talks about this exact KZbin video on the Eagles Documentary! Glenn walked in on his son watching this video and his son ask him about it. Glenn seeing it, watched, and was motivated to actually record it after all these years. It was a JD Souther song they use to sing live in the early days.

As far as I know, Glenn always wanted the main role,why? I don't know. The other members were very important too, they deserved more chance then they go on stage, But Glenn was not a real teamplayer, I saw it more than once.

This must be just in the beginning. Bernie is the spokesman. He was the most experienced of them, coming from Dillard and Clarke, and Flying Burrito Brothers. Later on Glenn Frey took this role. Great to see and hear them!

They did this J. D. Souther cover live in concert from 1972-75, but did not cut a studio version of it until 2007, at the suggestion of the late Glenn Frey's son, Deacon.
