With Wilkins and VanGinkle on their defense last season, and Vic Fangio as their “well-respected DC”, Miami didn’t do Jack. They were unable to beat ANY of the GOOD teams they played during the Regular Season, and in 4 of those 5 losses, the Dolphins basically got dominated on both sides of the ball, getting slaughtered 56-17 against Baltimore, for example. Despite having a 3-game lead in the AFC East over Buffalo going into December, the Dolphins end up losing the division title to Buffalo in the last week of the Regular Season, going from a 2-seed (had the Dolphins won that final game against Buffalo) to a 6-seed. And then as the 6-seed, the warm-weather Dolphins get crushed in the Wildcard Round in Kansas City with a wind chill of -30F. If Miami got those results WITH Wilkins, VanGinkel, & Fangio, then I don’t see how losing Wilkins, VanGinkel, & Fangio is going to make that big of a difference for the ‘24 Dolphins. If Miami got to the AFC Championship last season, I might feel differently. Like . . . Ugh! The Phins were SO close to getting to their first Super Bowl in 40 yrs! And yet the Phins’ Front Office lets these three defensive “stars” leave Miami in the off season after they really helped the Dolphins get to the AFC Championship?!? That would be an entirely different story. But even if the Dolphins KEPT VanGinkel, Wilkins, & Fangio for the ‘24 season, why should I get excited about that when we already saw that it got us to an immediate exit from the playoffs: a “one and done”, which is basically the same as NOT making the playoffs at all? The Dolphins may as well have finished 2-15 last season. At least then they would’ve gotten a decent draft pick.

Russell actually making 40 million dollars this year. 1.2 million with the Steelers plus 39 million from the Broncos. This was a win, win for Russell and the Steelers.

Wait hold up!!! To say Russ isn’t better than Pickett isn’t being honest. It is allowing the bias against Russ to cloud their judgement. The broncos let Russ go and are willing to take the cap hit because they said Sean Peyton gives us a better chance to rebuild then Russ. And because Sean doesn’t like Russ we have to commit to Sean and rebuilding instead of Russ. The Steerlers had all the leverage which is why they didn’t give him a multi year deal, but will, if/when Russ plays exactly like he did last year. The idea Russ could t play in Denver when he threw 26 TD is ridiculous. We know Hackett just isn’t a great head coach right now. And we have to stop using the fact that Pete gave up on Russ because he is out of a job too.

Philadelphia still has $39 million in cap space and if they do a one year restructure for Hassan Reddick, (and they will) they gain $11 million for a total of $50 million+ in cap space to throw at the defensive issues this year. That is more than enough for huge improvements to the defense with plenty of rollover cap left. Amazing general manager.

Swift was injured every year of his career before the Eagles got him. He was an upgrade over Miles Sanders. We saw how good Sanders was in Philly and fell of SUBSTANTIALLY on a weaker team last year. Saquon could be 75% of who he was on NY and would still have the best year of his career on this Eagles team. The giants opponents cared nothing about stopping anyone outside of Saquon, they can’t load the box they way they did against the Gaints

Not a Philly fan but it’s clear that the drop off in secondary was so steep that it’s obviously a coaching and scheme issue. Did they upgrade their defensive coaching?
@Twan.Trades

Thank you! That drop off was so obvious that there was a coaching problem and or locker room issues not skill based problems. I mean yeah we could use some new talent on defense but it’s definitely was more coaching then any just look how our offense looked stuck and frustrated with all the deep ball plays when that not our still. We chew up the clock with a deep shot here and there. Year before last we did it so good 1st team was on the bench by end of 3rd most games

12m a year for an elite RB when receivers and TEs are getting 2-3x.... I still think RBs are essential to good teams and playing well i'm actually shocked at how underpaid and 'irrelevant' they are now.

Running the Qb too much was a huge issue last year. He got Hurt and didn’t play like himself. Barkley will take a lot of the Hurts Carries and make his life easier. The defense was poor, but the offense was bad in spots too. We needed a new coach and a better between the tackles RB

The correct statement is if you run the ball well . . . Which we should all expect they will IF Barkley can remain healthy. Why? Because they already ran the ball well with a RB at a fraction of the price last season. How much did running the ball well help that terrible secondary last season? Why should running the ball well this season produce a different result?

Gabe Davis gets 3 years, $39 million. Nobody bats an eye. Barkley gets 3 years, $38 million. Everybody wants to say the Eagles over paid. Makes no sense. It’s not possible to overpay for a good RB in this market. Gave Davis would be WR3 on this team and doesn’t move the needle at all. Barkley changes the offense.
