I think it was his girlfriend's brother not the mob that killed Siegel. There is a witness who worked for the Flamingo as a dealer who said he was introduced to Virginia's ( Siegel's girlfriend) brother. Her brother was a Marine sharpshooter). It was said that Siegel beat her up and the brother was pissed. The witness heard the brother say I'm going to kill him. Virginia just happened to disappear when it happened. She went to Paris so she wouldn't be around when it happened. The shots were through the window and the mafia would usually just shoot up close in the back of the head to make sure your dead. The brother theory makes a little more sense. But then again the people that really know are dead now so we probably will never know the truth.

@@Morbiddude888let me give you the lowdown. joe maseria was hit by four gunmen. the four gunmen were ben siegel,vito geneovese, albert Anastasia and joe Adonis. sal maranzano was whacked by once again four gunmen. now the only certain things were that two of the four gunmen on the maranzano hit were sam red levine and bo Weinberg, who the other two gunmen were is not known but what is for sure is that it wasn't ben siegel. the reason bugsey siegel was not actively participating on that hit was because he was known. lansky says in his book and Luciano says in his book that they wanted four gunmen who were not known to the Italian mafia. siegel was well known in Italian mafia circles due to his close connection with lucky Luciano. the four gunmen were to dress up like police officers and enter maranzano offices in order to inspect or to collect his accounting books and then they were to stab him however maranzano was pretty tough and he wouldn't go without a fight so they had to end up shooting him. Now it is quite possible that bugsey siegel hand picked the four gunmen and may have coached them on what was to be done but he didn't actively take part in the hit. these version of events was corroborated by joe valachi in his book the valachi papers. now remember what we all know now about the mob back in the 1920s and 1930s was first enlightened to us by valachi. before 1962 no one knew anything about maranzano,masseria,luciano lansky or siegel for that matter until Valachi talked and dotted the i's and t's. don't get me wrong law enforcement knew these guys were HOODS in some way but how and in what way they didn't know until valachi talked. after valachi talked the floodgates opened and now it is all common knowledge.
