Charlie Lucky seemed to be an openminded spirit when it comes to crime. I have heard i he was not so much into classical rituals of the mafia. It says that Meyer Lansky adviced him to keep on doing blood oaths and such to retain the mystique in the mafia. I Think he was genuinely liked and admired by the younger generation of mobsters at that time. He still has a certain air around him. Genovese family came from Lucky's family. When Lucky went to prison Genovese was in charge, but he had to flee to Italy because he was going to be charged with murder. Frank Costello ran things while he was gone and when the witnesses ceased to exist Genovese came back and wanted his position back. He eventually tried to kill Costello using Vincent Gigante. Frank had enough and retired. Thus the Genovese family was born.

It’s because Luciano was the top of the food chain . And informants on the streets were pointing the finger and each racket and each crime all lead back to the orders of Luciano . Which put him in Dewys crosshairs . Meyer was not part of the syndicate. Which in law enforcement eyes would make him a seen like a pawn. Far from the case. When he got locked up and Genovese because the boss he fled Italy in 1 year due to a murder charge Dewys has all the evidence to convict him. Meyer and the syndicate in the end helped him get out years later
