This advice is spot on. Most people will ignore the advice and every single one of them will regret it. It has been said that nothing tastes as good as being thin feels. Well, nothing you buy will make you feel as good as having that money in the bank instead. You could live that next six months happier without spending a penny because even if you buy nothing you have the one thing you need more than anything. Peace of mind. Anything you feel you must have, you actually want because of how it will make you feel or you think it will make you feel. The secret to happiness is feeling that same way even without having things. The new wears off. It always wears off new shoes, it wears off new cars and new homes, even mansions and the new wears off of relationships and new anything. Happiness is about being content and peace of mind. Stuff is just stuff.

The Banks are also, up for scrutiny with large sums of money. We already know that you are going to have to pay taxes on your money in the Bank due to the government interest. The Banks are required to give that information to the government. Do some research and make a call to your local Bank and discuss disclosure policy between the Banks and the government. I noticed that every year except this Pandemic year, the Banks send out disclosure policy prior to taxes due.

When I inherited money from my Aunt, I gave 10% off the top to charity. I don't regret this. The mistake I made was giving a thousand dollars to each charity. That put me on their big spenders list. Next month they asked for another thousand. Since I didn't have any more aunts, I couldn't give that much ever again. I'm also now on the list of every charity in the world. The good side is that I have a lifetime supply of address labels, reusable bags, calendars, and lately socks. Thanks, Aunt Bertha. If I had it to do over again, I would set up a charity account that drew interest, and dole it out $25 at a time.

@me: really? I went to a walk in doctor and was seen in 5 minutes and within a few days had my cardio test. Sometimes walk ins can be busy but if you call first you can find out how long and then call other clinics and be seen fairly quickly. At the hospitals, the emergency can take a while if there are others with worse conditions than your own, but again free, prescriptions may cost up front but you get reimbursed when you submit your annual taxes or if you have a plan through work they direct bill them first. Continued investing and managing my portfolio actively selling out of tech in the tech bubble and into oil related in the pandemic. In 3 years the value has grown to six figures, and producing a return on cost yield of nearly 20%. Some oil stocks have matured and have been sold to make way for the more recent investments in stocks that are currently on sale with low P/E and good yields. Those may recover from being undervalued to repeat the investments of 2020. Compound growth has been fantastic. Changed the $100/month of my tech stock into the $3K/month in dividends now. Those are reinvested in the undervalued stock of the day to keep yield and growth high.

Investing in Roth IRA can be a good choice since they are funded with after tax dollars, your contributions can grow tax-free over time. When you withdraw money from your Roth IRA in retirement, you won’t have to pay tax on it, which will help you keep more of your hard-earned money. Compounding is the process of earning interest on your initial investment, as well as on the interest that investment earns. This means that over time, your investment can grow exponentially. So the earlier you start investing, the more time your investment has to grow through compounding.

I had a friend that inherited a lot of money but blew through it in less then 3 years. I get he grew up dirt poor but the way he spent his money was like a 6 years old in a candy store. He was always buying things for his so called friends and family members. Whenever he would try to by me something I would simply say, "I was your friend before your inheritance and I'll be your friend no matter what without you buying me off". My best advice is that your true friends won't expect a handout every time you enter a room. They be the people that won't ask to borrow $50,000 even when they could truly need help. They will be the people that says things like, "Slow down your spending or you'll be broke in a year...invest your money and live off the interest". Unfortunately, when he didn't have anymore money to give those fake friends and money grubbing family members they began telling him just how stupid he was. They treated him so badly that it put him in a state of manic depression and he began using drugs. Eventually, he died of a drug overdose. So take their advice and keep your money for your future...prehaps plan for your wedding, plan for children, don't compete with others (the only one that cares about you and your future is those people that love you for who you are).

When I inherited money from my parents, suddenly friends and relatives started asking for help, initially small help, then large sum of money. I was fed-up saying no to everyone. So, I sold my parents' home, paid up all my debts, got a job in another state, invested all money in dividend paying stocks, and living below my means on my salary. Here no one knows I have money and those who know me here think I am a middle class average working person. I don't spend dividends that I get, but rather reinvest all the dividends back into stocks never touching it.

I have a friend whose relative died and that will bequeathed a significant sum of money to my friend and one other person. That other person was not content in how the assets were being divided and felt entitled to all of it. No amount of negotiation worked, so this person decided to battle my friend out in court. He tried to warn this person that doing that would just drain the inheritance dry in legal fees, but that person did not care. And eventually, that was exactly what happened: the court battle ended on a moot point as the entire inheritance was spent on legal fees. Now they are both left ass out on that money, and it didn’t have to turn out that way. As far as greed goes, that’s a pretty epic level. Balance.

@Asim Malik Just a little advice from friendly online BATMAN. You need to change that mindset of you being unlucky enough to ever win the lottery! You become what you think you are; law of attraction is real ( well, kinda). You receive what you ask for ("ask and it shall be given unto you), it may take a while but it will happen solely cz you believe it will. Last thing, God put power like no other on our little red tongues ( what you say with ur mouth/mind is what you get). In other words, be positive and say what you mean and mean what you say. God put his spirit in us when he created us and thus how we are alive, therefore, what you say with your tongue and believe will happen for you!😉🙂🙏

In my opinion, a housing market crash is imminent due to the high number of individuals who purchased homes above the asking price despite the low interest rates. These buyers find themselves in precarious situations as housing prices decline, leaving them without any equity. If they become unable to afford their homes, foreclosure becomes a likely outcome. Even attempting to sell would not yield any profits. This scenario is expected to impact a significant number of people, particularly in light of the anticipated surge in layoffs and the rapid increase in the cost of living.

I suggest you offset your real estate and get into stocks, A recession as bad it can be, provides good buying opportunities in the markets if you’re careful and it can also create volatility giving great short time buy and sell opportunities too. This looks like the worst recession. I just started investing last week when the market prices were a bit high, today the prices plummeted more than 60% down! I feel very unlucky I should have waited. Hopefully, the markets will go back up in a few months, as long as I don't sell now I should be good right?

You said, "This looks like the worst recession. I just started investing last week when the market prices were a bit high, today the prices plummeted more than 60% down!" No I don't think that it will be alright. If you have invested in the S & P 500 then it will probably go down a lot more. It will probably drop by another 50% or more. The reason is because the rate of return on the shares is historically way too low. Look at the P/E (price/earning) ratio. This has happened because the interest rate has been the lowest for 300 years or more. The S & P was competing with low interst rates and so the price of the shares was too high compared to the dividends that they produced each year. Interest rates have now gone up a lot in the last year. They will never go down to where they were in our lifetimes. Therefore shares are still in a bubble. They should continue to go down for the next year or two. They should then over compensate and go lower than they should after that and then there should be a fantastic buying opportunity. The only thing is that there will be such terrible pessimism around that most people will not want to invest even though it will be a great opportunity. You will probably recover your money in about 30 years time. This might be like the 1930s. This is not advice. I have invested in inflation indexed government bonds in the UK because they have crashed in the last year because pension funds have bought too many of them (they have borrowed money to buy some of them. Interest rates have gone up so they had to sell the bonds that they borrowed money to buy) and currently have to sell them to stay solvent. Eventually that will turn around. It will take time. Also, they are tied to inflation which is high at the moment. They are also from the government which should be more reliable than individual companies. Also, they can't fall much lower or the pension funds will become insolvent. The govenment cannot allow that or the people will hate them and they will never be forgiven for it. They would never get elected again. Once the price goes up about 50% to where they were before they crashed then I will sell them and invest in something else. Hopefully, there should be a terrible crash in shares by then and I will invest in the FTSE 100 (in the UK), the FTSE 250 (in the UK) and maybe the S & P 500 (USA) at about one quarter of their peak prices by then. This is not advice. Look at videos about Michael Burry who predicted the housing market crash in the USA in 2008 (the film, "The Big Short"). He is predicting things to continue to get worse particularly in the USA. He is not agreeing with me on the bonds.
