Those would make great gifts. I will need to give making those a try with my powerarc welder.

There are some fantastic ideas here, especially for someone looking to batch out gifts or craft show items. Thanks for sharing!

Hi thanks Michael, yes they are good at craft shows I have sold quite a few. The batch in the video were prizes at a horse riding club dinner dance. I had to make 5 sets of each. Thanks for watching!

That was my first thought too. Welding has become a bit of a hobby of mine but I would like to make some money with my everlast so that it can pay for itself
@EamonWalshDIY7 жыл бұрын
Hi Daniel, you will sell these items at the right craft fair. They are easy to make and a good way to practice welding as the welding doesn’t have to be that exact. Find a farrier that will give you old horseshoes for free. Do not pay for them, most farriers will give you them for nothing. It’s a pain cleaning them but worth it. Here is another video of mine using horseshoes if you haven’t already seen it. These are good sellers before Christmas. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIbHiml3haytaLM Thanks for watching. Hope you make money!

Hi Barbie, I learned two great things from this video, Thanks! MIG welding for years it never occurred to me to knock off the spatter with a chisel! Duhhh! I have tended to grind it off with an air tool with sanding disk. Not really great as it scratches surfaces and sanding disks are expensive. Also the clear enamel will come in handy on smaller projects. I am following you and will look forward to more from you in the future! Mike in Dallas, Tx.

Hello, loved your work! I have zero experience with work like this. I would like to start crafting stuff like this. Would you care and inform me would machine would be good for a beginner or for small projects like this? & exactly what machines or materials I would need. Hope to hear from you.
@EamonWalshDIY3 жыл бұрын
Hi Norma, thank you. In this video I used a stick welder. Stick welding is great for beginners because it's easy to learn, and very affordable. ... In contrast, MIG welding is faster and more efficient, and cleaner than stick welding. However, MIG machines are more complicated to set up and learn, and are also usually more expensive. You will also need a welding helmet and welding gloves. There are lots and lots of welding tutorials on KZbin you can watch. Hope that helps.

Mate that's fantastic. I'm thinking of getting into welding, is that what they call a stick welder? Are they cheap?
@EamonWalshDIY7 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, thanks. Yes ya can call them stick welders but the proper name is arc welder. The one I have is a SIP Inverter ARC welder and i think it cost me about €250-300 at the time. You can get much cheaper ones though I have seen some for around €100 and would be perfect for learning.

I've over in north america and I use a small format Everlast 140 welder. It welds above its weight class as its dual voltage. It's not the cheapest but buying a subpar welder is probably not the best experience you will have.

Hi Dave, the shoes are made from steel. RE: the cast iron, i think you can weld cast iron but is difficult to do. Here is a link to some vids i found kzbin.info?search_query=welding+cast+iron+with+arc+welder Hope that helps Dave. Ps you can also get aluminum shoes.
