I was wondering what it’s called when there’s the two tiny areas shaped something like teardrops and are connected at the top by a very narrow passage canal at the top and in one these little floaty things are floating around and it has something to do with balance. And if some of the little floaty particles get over into the other that’s when it causes problems like vertigo and loss of balance and dizziness from just turning your head and worse. I had it happen in both ears at the same time about 12-13 years ago. It wasn’t very difficult to fix because I was able to go to a great E.N.&T., Dr. in Oregon City, OR and he and one of his co-workers who was an audiologist used this special machine that would make my head vibrate a certain way as I was on the exam table and they had to move my head a certain way while it was being vibrated in order to get the floating particles back into the correct side of those fluid sacs. They had to do one ear then wait a month to do the other ear and for 24 hours I had to keep my eyes and head level and was not supposed to look or tilt my head down in any direction, not turn my head or shake it, or lay down past a 45 degree angle, I think it was, so I had to sleep propped up on the couch that night with my head immobilized by rolled up towels. It’s hard to do that for 24 hours too! But if I didn’t do that, then the little floaters could possibly float back through the canal to the wrong side again. That’s why they could only do one ear at a time and had to wait a month between treatments. AND it worked! No more dizziness, loss of balance, vertigo, or any other problems afterwards, although I still have tinnitus in both ears but that was from when I was in the military many years before that. I can’t remember what those parts of the ear are called or what the diagnosis name of it was. The reason I’m bringing it up is that when I first went to my general practitioner who was a PA in a clinic in the town where I lived and that my insurance covered, he told me that it was just vertigo and that it would clear up on its own probably, eventually. When I asked how long he said it could take up to 6 or 8 months. And he said there was nothing that could be done about it. I found that unacceptable and since didn’t need to have a referral to see a specialist in my insurance network, I was able to go and get answers and have the problem fixed without even medication or surgery. And I also went back to that clinic a few months later for my regular on/gym exam and made sure to request a different provider and when I met with the Dr. at my appt I let her know what I was by the PA about my balance problems and what I’d done and how they had fixed it and I didn’t have to struggle through because of lost wages for an additional 6-8 months or maybe even longer, or have to walk holding onto walls or using a cane or holding onto someone in order not to fall all the time or crawl around on my hands and knees some days because my balance was so bad. And I couldn’t accept having to struggle like that, sometimes even throwing up because I was so nauseous as well, for some indeterminate time period, without getting a second opinion from an expert specialist in that field of medicine. I couldn’t walk straight, I fell a lot, I was dizzy and sick to my stomach and I couldn’t go anywhere because I couldn’t turn my head to left or right when I was driving without getting dizzy and I was afraid I would cause an accident and not only get hurt myself but hurt someone else or worse. I just think it’s important to share that experience in case just even one other person might be helped because they are going through that same problem and may not think to try to go to a specialist or get a referral to one and then suffer needlessly. I would have lost my job completely if not for going to see that specialist. Thank you for doing this and posting these videos. It truly does help people to understand better and more about their own bodies.

Thank you for the video and explanation. My son has undergone gone 2 Cholesteatomas surgeries and latest MRI results doesn’t look promising. My question is do you see patients going through multiple surgeries? Any other way to manage this disease?
@HearingSolutionCtr Жыл бұрын
So it's a type of tumor in essence. When you remove the tumor, you haven't told the body "don't make it anymore". Because that hasn't happened on a molecular level, sometimes the patient has multiple surgeries to correct the same issue. It should have been explained to you. Why, for instance, do I turn my ankles and tear ACLS in my knee? Very loose ligaments for Scott.

Hello doc Tell me how does doctor diagonise otosclerosis and colesteatoma
@HearingSolutionCtr4 ай бұрын
Both middle ear problems with two SEPARATE points. 1. Otosclerosis - is a bone growth of the bones in the middle ear that is just over growth. If you do a Stapes Mobilization or Stapendectomy you don't tell the body to turn off bone growth and it most likely comes back. I disagree with this surgery if more than once. 2. Cholesteotoma - is a growth in the middle ear (tumorous) that's removed by cutting away the ear drum then cutting out this pussy fluid filled sac. It's very smelly in the ear and really bothersome.
@tsheringdekar79814 ай бұрын
@@HearingSolutionCtr sorry to bother but what I mean to ask is how does doctor diagnosis this problem ???? How do they know that there is cholesteatoma behind the ear drum
@HearingSolutionCtr4 ай бұрын
@@tsheringdekar7981 Not sure that you want me to be that technical...but Tympanometry. Normal physician doesn't do it. That's why ENT and Audiology get involved with hearing tests and tympanometry with views of the ear drum. But you can't tell the difference between Cholesteotoma and Otosclerosis by looking. For more than 2 years I have had a sound of water swooshing around in my right ear. I’ve been to ENT. It they don’t do Anything about it but suggest there is nothing can be done. It swooshes, crunches, and makes noises all day long but mostly at night. I’ve used baby oil, peroxide, otc meds but it doesn’t go away. If you could help me identify this I’ll bake you a cake, lol. I do wear hearing aids and I don’t hear as well in the right ear. I’m always blowing it, like after you’ve been swimming, it pops and I hear a tad better for a little while. Been to audiologists but they cannot go further in passed drum.. Help me please. Patty

Hi Patty. I am going to suggest something that might be really weird. I had a cough that was not going away for YEARS. Nothing fixed it. But once I got off sugar and carbs (Keto for me) all that congestion went away. Sometimes more drastic diet plans can make a massive difference. Sugars especially are inflammatory in nature. Then they create mucose that stays in the body. Sometimes our bodies are responding to what we are eating. I would recommend a NP (Naturopathic doc) that might do some of their other testing to find the congestion that's still there.

A poping in the ear ?? Hearing go's on and off . Can you help?
@HearingSolutionCtrАй бұрын
Couple possibilities... 1. Ear infection...less likely but possible. Would come with MASSIVE plugged up feeling that doesn't really go away or pain. 2. Allergies to food or pollens. That causes your ear to pop. Some people have this all the time. ID the allergy to know what causes it. 3. Could also be from the Jaw (called TMJ) that a good Doctor of Osteopathy does OMT to adjust (not talking about a Chiropracter here). Could also be something in the neck that needs adjustment.

In this Dr. Scott Young Hearing Expert video that is the part #2 about "Ear Disorder" the author is continuing helping us to understand what might be going on with our Ear Infection. We may be asking, “will ear infection go away on its own?”, and sometimes it requires special surgeries to fix the issue. If we have struggled with Middle Ear Infection Symptoms or Cholesteatoma Symptoms or Otosclerosis Symptoms and have never known how to ask the right questions, then we have to watch very careful this video. In this very didactic video Doctor of Audiology Dr. Scott Young continue giving us detailed answers about how the middle works and the disorders that can happen. In this video, the author has focused on middle ear disorders of Mastoidectomy Surgery, and Otosclerosis Symptoms, Cholesteatoma Treatment. Sometimes, you can't smell it...because it's purely contained in the middle ear. If there is a hole in the eardrum, you probably would smell it. But remember sometimes the overarching terms of diagnosis doesn't fit everyone. Why did my roommate in college have the stinkiest feet I have ever smelled with a guy that washed up several times a day? Chemistry issues.
