Ear drum shattering thunder

Northern Alabama 4/27/11 Tornado
This was the loudest thunder I've ever heard, it was making my ears pop the exact same way a 12 gauge shotgun does.

Dude, be careful going outside in weather like that. The sound thunder makes when that close to you is absolutely terrifying. Closest I've heard is from 1,000 feet away while outside on a lake, and it sounded like an explosion nearby. Never heard anything that terrifying in my life before. But a lot of those lightning bolts were back-to-back a couple hundred feet away from you at the most. Be careful, man.

We gets storms like that in phoenix az on rare occasions. Extremely close strikes happening every few seconds, a waterfall comes down, and then the storm is gone in 5 minutes. Tiny but powerful cells
