Truth: my helix piercing is the most problematic. I am introduced to a new term: grumpy - it perfectly describes what happens with this piercing. Thanks for broadening my knowledge.👍🏻

I'm not sure who came up with the term but it is the best way to describe it. It isn't infected, rejecting or reacting to the jewelry. It's just grumpy. Glad to share the term and happy to hear you learned something, thank you for sharing and watching.

That's my conch to conch industrial at 2:15! Healing was pretty easy for me, just the usual crusties. I found sleeping on it was almost impossible for around 9-12 months, it would get sore/irritated really quickly. Finding the perfect length bar is the most important piece of advice I can offer. Also If you wear glasses, or have stretched lobes you will need small ends to avoid irritation! Thanks for using my image DaVo!

First off, I hope you understand that when I use photos they are for educational purposes only. Thus fair uses. However, whenever possible, I like to give credit if I can find it. I think I found a share of a share on Instagram or pinterest. If want me to credit you and of course your piercer, please let me know and I'll add it to the description including a link to your artists studio. Thank you for sharing your experience. I personally always this piercing but haven't because of glasses. Where I want it, would always be in contact with the glasses and I hate contacts. Thus it is not meant to be and I'm jealous of yours.

I got my conch and my rook piercings done at the same time on the same ear and LET ME TELL YOU my rook was SO much harder to heal. My conch never really caused any issues. However, my rook kept flaring up until like the 8th month into having it done. It was just awful having it so swollen and painful all the time. They are both doing so well now though, without any flare ups or anything for the past couple months. I can't wait to be able to get my next piercings soon!

I have a piercing no professional would touch, because of the potential issues of placement, rolling, migration, and rejection. I placed it between where a mid to upper helix would be, but positioned the needle as though it were a lobe piercing. (It is not pierced through cartilage). It took a bit longer to heal than my tragus (the only one I had done professionally), had minimal migration in the beginning, and I couldn't sleep on my right side for many months. The only jewelry that works in it are the smallest L nose rings. I don't always wear jewelry in it because it could stretch. I enjoy it very much and haven't had problems with it for a long time. I've had it eleven years this month. I'm glad I stumbled on this channel. It's informative and fun.

My conch has been a piece of cake so far, because I stuck to the advice to use a stud. My double helix piercing is 10 weeks old and feeling pretty comfortable, with sleeping. Of course I'm careful with it. Can't wait to get my daith pierced and then I'll be done with my cartilage piercings. All on the same ear. And when I do my fourth lobes I will do them separately. I have an upper ear cartilage that's in a similar placement to yours. It's been healed for over 2 decades. Honestly I have less trouble with this than with my ear lobes 😂. I put a piece of jewelry in and don't change it for years, and I honestly can't tell you the last time it was grumpy. I change my lobe earrings more often, and they are more likely to get jewelery that's cute but accidentally has nickel so I'm guessing that's why they get grumpy.

@BodyPiercingTattooing

First off if the bump went away, it's not a keloid. The biggest thing is isolating the piercing and avoiding any type of contact. I would suggest mentioning the issue you have had in the past to your piercer. Knowing your prone to issue should impact the placement and jewelry your piercer chooses. Glad you found the video helpful, good luck with your piercing and let us know how it turns out.

It was suggested to me to do the conch and daith one at a time. However many weeks apart your ear piercer suggests. But probably a good 8 weeks apart. Maybe best to do the conch first, so that you can be switched to shorter jewelry in your conch, by the time you do your daith. My piercer advised that my conch jewelry should be switched out to the shorter labret before I get my daith pierced. And what I learned from getting two piercings at a time, twice, on the same ear, (double helix piercings and the conch and 3rd lobe,) is that you feel the second one a whole lot more than you feel the first one. So if you're afraid of pain, neither of them hurt very much, for most people, but after you've done one piercing your brain starts to perk up and realize it's supposed to recognize something as pain. At least that's my experience. I have my 14 karat gold hoop jewelry for my daith piercing, ready to go and I can't wait, but I do have to wait a little bit while my conch heals more, and I can switch to a shorter labret. My conch piercing is about 3 weeks old. So I am supposed to wait another four to six weeks. Did you jump in and get any cartilage piercings done yet? I'm sure you will enjoy yours, when you do! 😊
@BodyPiercingTattooing
@BodyPiercingTattooing 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing your experience. I have found that it has little to do with the length and more with working in such a tight area. I have done both in one sitting on clients and saw no issues. However, you are right on when it comes to the pain. The nerve endings are much more alert with the second piercing. Thank you for sharing and watching.

I got my conch on Friday, pain has never been my concern and tbh if I were to describe it, it would be like 3/10 (0 - no problem, 10 - holy sh...). However I was afraid how my conch would be in my everyday life, it's not that problematic, but of course I still kinda "baby" it 😇 I'm getting my daith next year probably, since I'm going to get it on the other ear.
@therealdeal3672

@@leatherrrrebel congratulations! My experience of pain or lack thereof was about the same. I was a little nervous about it, but it wasn't bad at all. Doing my daith in the same ear so that I can have one ear for an earbud, and to pillow crush, with only lobe piercings. I have discovered I can use my earbuds with my conch piercing, with a couple of modifications, now that the piercing doesn't feel touchy around it, at all. But I'm planning the daith pretty soon. Some headphones that I have will probably still work for me. Going to give it some time before I try them out. Otherwise, one ear is good, for an earbud. Enjoy your new piercing!

love my anti tragus and rook, so much easier than upper cartilage. Makes me think a snug wouldn't be that bad for me. First off, ear piercings will always close when you leave the jewelry out. I know people claim that they don't close but when they force jewelry back in the posts are usually so thin they barely notice that they are ripping through tissue. The gunk is more than like sebum. It's normal and tends to collect in piercings.

I’ve been told that I have the perfect anatomy for multiple ear piercings. In my right ear have my industrial, three helix piercings, rook, Tragus and 4 earlobe piercings, on my left ear I have three conch piercings, triple forward helix piercings, a daith piercing, flat piercing, and one lobe. Let me tell you my body sucks with healing any type of cartilage. I’m prone to hypertrophic scarring and have gotten them on every single piercing except for lobes. They all have taken a year to heal. But I’m super patient, usually when I get one I just use warm sea salt mixture, and I wait it out. Takes about 9 months for a year for it to completely go away, I’m not sure why, but once it goes away and It never comes back. My conch and my industrial was by far the most difficult to heal and I had a straight barbell. My easiest to heal was obviously earlobes lol.

It's possible. They are one of the most difficult piercings to heal and tend to be grumpy longer than other piercings. However, a month is a long time for swelling, I would suggest seeing your piercer and have them take a look.

Thank you and I'm glad you are enjoying the videos. If the bump is next to the piercing hole it could be from the piercing. You may have one of the dreaded bumps. It is best to see your piercer and have them take a look. If it isn't right against the piercing is may not be related.

To be honest I really don't have a suggestion. Most of the trauma tends to take place taking it off and putting it on. Wearing a tight hood can reduce this. As far as helmets, those with limited movement and a large area for the ear would be best.

I mean I love my industrial so I’m gonna stick it out but someone could have warned me first.

It's just one of those piercings that can take a lot of work to heal and often you don't know how much until after the piercing is done. I've had clients that did everything wrong and healed out in 3 months and then I've had clients that did everything right and were still struggling with healing over a year later. A lot of it is simple your body's tolerance for the piercings. If it doesn't have it, it may never heal.

I don't think any knowledgably piercer would even agree to do the piercing with a ring. Now there was a time when it was the most common option but it meant longer healing and a great deal more issues. Personally we pierce them all with titanium and don't suggest wearing a ring in them for 12 to 18 months.

I’ve had 5 healing at once (daith, tragus, took and double eyebrow). It wasn’t completely terrible and they healed fine but it’s not ideal. I had to sleep flat on my back for several months (I’m a stomach sleeper and I hated it) and it was a chore cleaning them all everyday, twice a day. The biggest issue is it can compromise your immune system a little bit since your body is fighting to heal the piercings and keep out infections. It’s not like trying to heal a cut. With a piercing it has to heal around a piece of metal which takes longer. Long story short you can heal several at once but it’s not advisable. 2-3 is like the maximum to heal at once.

My industrial is 17 years old. It took 2-3 years to heal completely where I could pull and smack it without pain. Plus, with it being in my ear for 17 years (yes I clean it), I can leave it out about a day and it won't even think of closing. My double helix was fine until we all had to start wearing masks, it irritated it. But otherwise, took about 6 months to stop hurting all the time. It's only been there one year. My regular ear piercings healed completely in about a month. My labret healed pretty damn fast. It's a year old and I bite on the inside a lot pulling it up and down and doesn't hurt. My septum took 2 months to completely heal where I could push on the tip of my nose without pain. I mean it hurts if I pull on it, but otherwise, nothing hurts much anymore.

I haven’t had any of my 7 cartilage piercings for even a year now, so I cannot really say if this will be true through the whole healing process. I got my upper ear cartilage piercing almost a year ago later this month, and while it has gotten better, that sucker will still hurt sometimes. I got my snug in January and besides getting a bump on it every once a while, almost no pain. I have been hit in the ear before where it is and it bled pretty bad, but it still hasn’t been what I would call a problem piercing and it hasn’t migrated. My industrial, on the other hand, I blame on an incompetent piercer. I’ve already had it redone once, and I’m planning to redo the top hole because the bar is pressing into the flat of my ear slightly. It was worse until I stuck some plastic behind the bottom hole to move it forward. I know it sounds unorthodox, but my piercer didn’t do a good job and I really wanted the piercing so i was trying to fix it lol. I wonder if it would’ve been as big of a pain if it had been pierced correctly. Also, I’ve never gotten my rook caught on anything, but I think it was pierced a little deeper, but I honestly like the location. Everyone is different and it is really interesting to see where each piercing falls on the difficulty scale for you. I look forward to your videos ☺️

Crafty Girl i unfortunately had the same exact issues and i had to buy over the ear headphones too . i think depends on your ear's anatomy. the space you have at the opening of your ear canal has to be large enough so the earbud can 1. fit without falling out constantly and 2. not apply pressure to the piercing causing it to hurt.

Which clamps would you reccomend to use to guarantee a straight earlobe piercing? My friend is adamant on doing it herself freehand but she has attached earlobes (and very small ones at that) I was suggesting septum or tragus forceps as they are a narrow tube that will guide the needle and fit on her small lobes She isn't comfortable with going to a piercer as she has had her lobes pierced roughly 7 times and they struggle to heal each time, she wants to try one more time but only if she does it herself Thanks for the help in advance, great video
@BodyPiercingTattooing
@BodyPiercingTattooing 4 жыл бұрын
Here's the thing with forceps, unless you know how to use them, you can in fact increase the likelihood of doing the piercing at the wrong angle. With lobes I do them freehand to insure that the angle matches the anatomy in its natural condition. I do not advise doing them yourself. You can't see what your doing and the angle that you are doing them at. Attached lobes can be more difficult. Mainly in trying to avoid a needle strike. Then there is the countless risks of self piercing. Also I do not use any of those forceps because they tend to distort the area they are designed to pierce. Septum I do free had and tragus piercing I do with Pennington force and guide the needle with a needle receiving tube.

Oh, the daith. If i knew then what i know now i would have been so much more comfortable healing. Firstly, i did get it done with a ring, which is fine except I'd never dealt with ball jewelry at all. The first thing i did was lose the ball off of it and have to go back to my piercer to get a closed ring. I messed with it. I lot. It feels kinda tickly and weird to spin the ring through the hole. DON'T DO THAT. I also slept on it as it's my primary side and no one told me i shouldn't. That hurt, and while i never developed bumps or anything (thank heaven), i did have to sleep with my hand under my head. You know, holding your head off the bed with your ear nested in the space between thumb and forefinger. Because i was stupid it did take more than 3 months to heal. However once it was done it was the most comfortable to live with. It still has the same seamless ring in it that i got originally and it's been in for about 10 years. I am planning to get my second one done soon and i have not doubt this will heal much better thanks to these videos. Thanks for being an awesome educator DaVo!
