as someone who grew up attending christian youth camps, it’s so nice to hear rhett and link speaking of their experiences. youth camp was always one of those experiences where it was both socially draining and… scary, but so eventful and full of action the whole week

I am a paranoid person with OCD and anxiety. I understand what Link is saying with the leash issue because I think I would obsess over that as well. I’m sorry to be blunt, but if Link is worried about the retractable leash, he needs to stop using it. That is the only way that he will stop worrying about it. I disagree with Rhett about it being a misplaced concern. The issue is not impossible, therefore it could happen, and I think Link would be devastated if it did happen and it could’ve been prevented.

there’s already several comments about retractable leashes but as a dog groomer i agree! they are very dangerous, i recommend a harness and fabric or leather leash :)

So glad so many are talking about the dangers of retractable leashes. My Ruffwear harnesses and 6 foot leashes for my wiggly, sight hounds are the BEST and give me total confidence in my ability to keep them safe.

I was listening on Spotify but had to come and comment about dog walking. YES 100% be prepared if your dog gets hit when walking. Just last week (right in front of my house) a driver made a turn, ran over a dog who was on a standard 6ft leash. The owner and dog had the right of way. The car was near inches from hitting the owner too. Be familiar with 24/7 EMERGENCY vets. Your regular vet might not be open and might be busy. When walking, LOOK at the driver! Make sure they notice you even if you have the right to cross! Distracted driving is deadly! Stay safe!

We had to comfort a lady that hit my family dog a few years back, she was so shaken up, crying hard. The dog jumped out of nowhere. But if it was a situation where the driver was fully aware and at fault, yep, i like that idea😂

I agree, working in a vet clinic I’ve learned that loop leashes are safest. They loop around the neck and get tighter if they pull on it, dogs can easily slip out of collars if a normal leash is attached to it

Those retractable leashes are terrible. They can get wrapped around a dog and choke them, and once a dog is far away you can't easily pull them back. Simple fabric leash is all you need

There are retractable leashes that lock. Even fabric leashes can choke a dog. You have to know how to hold it just like any leash

@@alicynsenior4952 they can still malfunction. The handles are also bulky and hard to hold on to if a dog pulls. The thin cord is much more likely to cause a garotte injury to a dog or an amputation injury to a human's fingers. Why risk it.

Every time Rhett and link bring up that story of link being constipated I get reminded of my horror story. Me and my friend went to a camp for two weeks three four states away from our home state. Anyway I was constipated for those two weeks and it was getting scary because my friend was freaking out about how bloated I was getting. When I say bloated I don’t mean a little bump I mean like BLOATED like a cow. My friend even went to the camp nurse for me and got laxatives and I took them still nothing and she was so scared for me she was ready to go tell on me. She’s definitely like a mom friend lol. Anyway as soon as I got home though, let’s just say I was cured. 😭😭😭 and I still get like this, I thought I’d grow out of it but nope went on a trip a couple weeks ago happened again.

Link! I had something similar like this happen to me. Husband and I were walking our 4 little dogs on a trail by our house---two large vicious loose dogs come out of no where and start attacking the large older dog also on the trail behind us being walked by an older lady. My husband hands me the leashes and runs to help her (they are literally biting her dog)--I scoop up all 4 of our dogs which is difficult in itself and have to decide what I'm going to do if these dogs come and start attacking me. The trail I'm on has a 5 ft chainlink fence on one side as there is an active railroad on that side and a ravine on the other. I decide then and there if they come to attack me I'm going to throw the dogs over the fence---as even if they get hurt from the toss and will not know where to go it's better than being mauled to death---I would then try to scale the fence if needed. Luckily this never happened and the owner with the loose dogs comes and gets them "they were playing" (yeah right they were biting the ladies dog) anyways every time I walk that trail I imagine this situation over and over again and try to assess what I could do.

I have an interesting go-kart story that I'm sure maybe not many people can tell . I was 10 years old (with a learning disability so dont laugh to hard lol 😂) I was going so fast on a turn that when I turned on a sharp turn , I went off the course and hit the soda machine but if the soda machine wasn't there I would have went right onto the highway , and after that not to long after there was a fence that got put in around the go kart area to avoid that situation from happening so not many people can say that they're the reason why there is a fence now at the go-kart area of their hometowns mini golf course so people do not go outside of the go-kart area. true story lol 😂
