I have the expert-mode combo of anxiety *and* depression, so the anxiety makes my heart rate go up but my depression keeps me nice and sleepy so I can fall asleep on a dime most nights. As a person who grew up teased for being "picky" and was constantly shut down for "talking out of turn" and specific rituals I followed (link's shower protocol comes to mind here) and a lot of anxiety etc, well it turned out for me to be the 'tism. Which isn't to discount Rhett's feelings about it because that's totally valid as well especially having the insight that Link is a bit more outgoing and Rhett being more reserved (there was an older episode about celeb encounters where they talked about this). Just to say there's potentially more to this reoccurring issue than is seen on the surface.

Once again, Rhett spoke in a condescending manner towards Link. Take it off line! Bringing it up again during a live podcast with hand gestures like he's speaking to a child is low. I've also picked up on subtle eye rolls on other podcasts. Feeling a definite air of superiority. Sheesh!

I don't understand the rationale of claiming to be a fan of an artist, but then hoping that artist doesn't get popular. If you're truly a fan of an artist, don't you want that artist to be successful? Imagine you're a musician and some stranger tells you "hey, I hope you never surpass 5,000 monthly listeners on Spotify." Would you consider that stranger a fan?
@jackbicknell4711 Жыл бұрын
Popularity can, not always, but can ruin artistry. Fame, money, the media, demands of the audience, all these things can errode the qualities that make a band a good group of artists.

As someone who is really into intense punk like screamo or crust, that section physically hurt me. “It’s supposed to sound like that“ might sound like a cop out but to anyone who likes it, it‘s honestly the most obvious statement ever. It‘s music that is supposed to sound noisy, chaotic and disorganized, that‘s literally the whole appeal of it so going into it with the mindset of “They’re playing sloppily, therefore it is objectively bad“ is like looking at an abstract painting and saying “This does not look like anything I recognize therefore it must be bad.“

Being "good" at music makes no sense. There is no "good" when it comes to art. There is subjectively good, but not talented, not objectively good. Mistiming could be a mistake, but it could also be entirely intentional for so many reasons, that's why art is so incredibly interesting and valuable.
