Only a youngin' welcoming could get him to pull that. Pure intimidation and veteran presence. Love to see it. The first part about GP's special (and damn precious and accurate) advice and the Stockton's hair to Watson's 21 y/o self was damn great and funny.

He tried to low key make himself famous by having a Stockton story.. but one of his own imagination.

Stockton is the all time leader in assists and steals. In other words, he was the best at getting the ball to his teammates...and also the best at taking the ball from his opponents. How gangsta is that.

Bird stories are just the maximum masterpiece of its NBA genre so it's unfair, but John Stockton stories are way up even compared to other great ones. The great Wilt Chamberlain knew what was up. No wonder that people like Sir Charles and GP were wary of Stockton's impact.

Everyone who played against him said he was dirty, but it was because they couldn't stop him. Hard play was not appreciated by the prima-donnas of that time. When he set a screen, he SET A SCREEN. He set players into screens like nobodies business. And when he set a screen, he held his ground instead of using a small bump and peeling off.

The three point line in college is closer than the NBA 3pt line. He meant that Stockton wanted to fairly close to the basket before initiating the offense, typically a pick and roll with Malone.
