Tim Duncan deserves the top 5 nod from everyone. A lot of people keeps saying “if it weren’t for pop” or “he had Tony and Manu throughout years” or the worst one “it was the system”. Tim Duncan was the system. He’s definitely the most unappreciated athletes of all time due to he wasn’t “marketable” or “flashy”. Who gives a shit. Tim Duncan shared the 2000s with Kobe and Shaq. Also, he led the spurs to 50+ wins throughout his entire career. If that isn’t too 5 idk what is.

Tim Duncan single handedly prevented Kobe and Shaq from winning their 4-peat during the 2003 playoffs. That year David Robinson was hurt most of the season and was averaging 8 points in the regular season and averaged 7 points in the playoffs. I'm happy to hear Demarcus ( Aka boogy) give Duncan his props. Demarcus was a beast himself but Duncan from the time he was drafted by the Spurs he was a instant impact. I can't even explain the happiness he gave me with his basketball play from 1997 till 2017. He was the real deal. Passionate, fundamentally sound. He could score all kinds of ways. Bank shot, pull up 15 footer, floaters, spin move bank shot, drive to basket for a dunk. assist, block shots, he didn't shoot a lot of 3s but when did he was pretty accurate. If there was a game that had to be won to win a championship and Tim Duncan said we're winning the game you better believe it. He was just so confident in his team's ability to get the job done. Tim frustrated a lot of centers and power forwards trying to guard him because he was that good. I remember KG ( Kevin garnett slapped Tim Duncan on the back of the head because Tim was giving KG that work but after the game it was all love. KD was just frustrated Tim was out working him. I can go on and on about Duncan as he is my favorite player and I'm a long time Spurs fan since 89. I'm 45 and I'm happy to say Duncan is the best power forward I watched play and there are some great ones no doubt. Some can argue and say Barkley, Malone.etc but I don't think those guys had big of a impact on his team than Duncan did. OK. I'm out. ✌️and 🙏

I think Tim Duncan is the most disrespected player in NBA history simply due to the fact that he never did anything to be extremely flashy or went out of his way to draw attention to himself. The dude was mild-mannered knew what his job was led his team to multiple championships and became arguably the greatest power forward in NBA history. Why people still seem to think he doesn't rank in the elite of the elite kind of blows my mind considering how great he is. They call him the big fundamental for damn reason. Kobe was better than Duncan…its objective fact. 😂
@Popoybato123
@Popoybato123 Жыл бұрын
@@tomthompson4869 And guess where the Lakers were in the mid-2000s? Kobe's career was initially teetering to the brink of obscurity when Shaq left. The Spurs even beat the Lakers when Shaq was there. If you're gonna nitpick stats then make sure it's the ones that matter, winning. I love Kobe but to say that he is outright better or it's an "objective fact" that he's better than Duncan is just plain wrong. I would give Timmy the slight edge just in terms of his consistency and success.
@TeezyfolKKz
@TeezyfolKKz Жыл бұрын
@@Popoybato123 “teetering obscurity” is a a reach don’t you think? 3peat, Spurs L, finals L, Shaq leaves: 04-05 - 34-48 05-06 - 45-37 3-1 on suns, scoring title 06-07 - 42-40 playoffs, scoring title 07-08 - 65-17 finals trip The 2000s hierarchy is overstated, but that’s just because of the media’s manipulation of Shaq’s narrative. It should be Kobe, Tim, & Shaq

Duncan had the team success sure, but two of these guys won 4 in the decade and the other won 5. Shaq had 1 1/2 good years left when he left the Lakers after all those years of working himself in to shape Duncan got his nose wiped against the Kobe led Lakers in 2008 (4-1). 2009 was a L to the Mavs (4-1). 2010 was an L to the Suns (4-0). Duncan had consistent team success. That’s fire on the Spurs behalf, but when Kobe made it to the top it’s objectively proven he gets right back. Dude has two trios of finals appearances. That’s crazy good

the thing D.C probably wasn't aware of, was that Timmy literally had wars against one of the most intense trashtalkers in NBA history in Mr Kevin Garnett. D.C could never get inside Timmy's head because Timmy is so mentally strong to begin with, but also has dealt with one of the most vicious shittalkers ever at the highest level of basketball.

Tim is probably just a nice person who sees it as his responsibility to win and no excuse for losing exists. If it’s important to win and it’s up to me, talk all you want but I’m winning. If I’m wrong then Tim is probably just a stone cold killer lol!

IMO people don't like or appreciate bigs is the reason why Duncan is so underrated. For all the hype of LBJ, & Kobe prior, the top player this century has been Tim Duncan and it's not even that close as the guy was so impactful on the court that he would flat out dominate games just posting 20 & 10. In the long history of the NBA he's the only PF that creeped into that similar realm of atg C's.
