Early 2000's Whirlpool Dishwasher - Quick Overview

Just a quick first look at an early 2000's Whirlpool dishwasher I saved from a clients remodel project that was being thrown out a few blocks from me. I wasn't going to allow that as long as it was still working and I had the room for it, so I saved it from the perils of destruction.
I'm just showing the dishwasher as it is, when I will ever get to make a video of the operation is unknown.

what do the cycle buttons actually do. because you have to turn the timer to the actual cycle, what changes when you press the cycle button. because I had this exact dishwasher, but it just had timer and heated dry switch.

Without looking at a diagram, my best guess would be that pressing a switch simply activates whichever set of switches/contacts in the timer which are tied to that particular setting, and it cycles accordingly.

do you know how to take that spinny filter thing off to clean it?

Interesting! Looks like a similar setup to the Potscrubber underneath. Was probably still the reversing motor instead of the valve for drain. I'm sure it did a pumping while filling though!

Yeah I'll have to rewatch your videos on that. Don't know on the drain system in this one. Probably did do a pump on fill--mechanical controls win again!

I've seen these but they kind of look like they have GE influence. I wish I still had my Whirlpool portable power clean from 1990. Had until last year when I moved. Still worked with no rust on the racks or the porcelain tub.

Perhaps a little bit of influence--I'm sure Sharkie626 would know more on that. 30 years old, and still worked with no rust....Unheard of today.

i have a similar version and I believe its the one from 1998 but the difference is that it doesn't have buttons like this one btw that thing in middle of the spray arm is called a spray tower

Thats early 2000? Looks like my nans 1982 dishwasher, my 1997 German made whirlpool looks more modern, maybe cause its an european model

Yeah I knew it said early 2000's, like maybe 01 or 02. This one is just a simple mechanical control model, so it's going to look like 1982.
