My great grandmother lived in Sweet Water Tennessee. She died in the 1950s. She never had plumbing in her house. Her sons tried to give her plumbing and she wouldn't let them. I can't even imagine being in your 90s and still having to carry water.

I also wallpapered my bathroom ceiling with that faux tin look. It was one of the hardest things I ever did. It lasted until I could afford to put an actual tin ceiling up which was very expensive so I had to save 4 it.
@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow4 жыл бұрын
A real tin ceiling would never survive our humidity... things just turn to rust in the summer.
@virginiaspindle84034 жыл бұрын
@@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow I must apologize, when I say real tin ceiling I meant as compared to the wallpaper. I actually put in a faux (plastic) tin ceiling which looks like the real thing but much lighter and much easier to install, although a bit more expensive than the wallpaper.

I have THREE words for this bathroom...... Gor Ge Ous !!! I love the old claw foot tub. The apartments I lived in when I lived in New Orleans both had them. I didn't have airconditioning in the slave quarter apartment I rented in the Garden District so on really hot nights I would take cold baths and soak in a tub that was the size of a small swimming pool. That tub and the cold bath soaks were such a welcomed relief ! I swear...I don't understand how people settled in southern Louisiana and lived there before the invention of the air conditioner! The conveniences of a new house and the charm of an old house are a perfect meld. I know that certain states just don't have many old houses, except in the middle of town. We were able to easily find this one, as so many old houses still exist here in the countryside of East Tennessee, and the tiny town nearby was founded in 1780; but when I lived in Colorado, it was nearly impossible to find an old house in the country. I'll help you with your garden plans any time you ask, we can do it long distance..
