@ludwiggretsch8784 жыл бұрын
@@chrisbarr1359 If you look at the "44" on their truck, there is a line above the first 4 and a line below the second 4. It's a clever combination of "TL" and "44", to make "TL 44".

I'm a volunteer firefighter in Europe and I don't get many things how American ff's work. I mean, in this case, so much smoke around, and they're standing in that smoke beeing exposed. If we were waiting to get into that building, we would be much further from that smoke. Cause why we should expose ourselves unneccesary? Second thing, they all put on the air paks immediatly, and basically don't even use them. If we don't need the cylinder, we don't put it on, cause it's quite heavy and makes it harder to work with. So if I were in that smoke, having already the cylinder on, I'll automatically put the mask on and breath with clean air. I mean, they got many air cylinder's on their truck's, much more than we have. I'm not judging, I'm just curious how the ff procedures in FDNY looks like, cause it all look's quite different than in EU. And by the way, FDNY Response Videos, great work, big fan of you!
@chrisbarr13594 жыл бұрын
On your first point I agree. Why stand in smoke? Unless the wind keeps shifting. While responding firefighters put on their air packs, they are incorporated into the seat back. If not needed they eventually take them off.
@SirBender4 жыл бұрын
Tim Burm1 lol that’s no argument... in those cases german firefighters go back to their engines and close the door or move out the smoke! German firefighters are one of the best worldwide.
@rav53834 жыл бұрын
Chris Barr I mean...yeah, just like #SirBender said. That’s not an argument at all. Of course by being a firefighter you take huge risk. I know that, I’m one of them. But putting myself in unnecessary danger is pointless. In Poland we say „life of the firefighter is the most important. Because dead firefighter is bad firefighter”. And you can’t not agree with that. The more you live. The more healthy you are. More lives you are able to save. And if you’re one of us, you should always have that in your mind. But still, I’m learning a lot from FDNY work, and nothing but huge respect for them. 👏🏼🇱🇷

again, a well said comment! European ffs really bust their asses in trying to control the fire. Here,seems nyc is where European ff go to retire!
@FDNYResponseVideos4 жыл бұрын
A European firefighter would do a suicide run into a warehouse full of god knows what to put a fire out in a building with a bowstring truss roof? With no life hazard inside? Bowstring truss roofs are known to be extremely dangerous and prone to quick collapse. They also allow rapid fire spread. Seems like a great idea!

In Germany (and most of the countries in Europe) firefighters always wear masks when in the bucket on a tower ladder. North Americans were always special in everything they do. My grandfather was a firefighter for 38 years. Not once he went to fight a fire without mask and he use to be in the bucket very often.

Much to my surprise, it appears that traffic is still rolling on the highway nearby. I thought the police would have diverted traffic due to low visibility from smoke and also the distraction factor (drivers looking at the fire scene nearby).

What I don’t understand, but see in so many videos: the FDNY very very often stand and work in the middle of smoke without wearing masks. That’s so irresponsible! Many of them will get cancer, I’m pretty sure about that :( 02:10 20:05 the guy in the bucket.... s.th. that you won’t normally see in Germany. If the wind turns into the direction of the firefighters, they leave this place immediately. These guy here just stand around in the middle of the smoke and “chill”

The biggest thing I hate about these new york fire videos is everyone saying how great they are, how good they do..But yet in every single video you see the fire fighters working the fire no SCBA on. Apparently the smoke in new york is non toxic or they have watched 1 too many movies. A good fire fighter wears their scba while in smoke they dont worry about if they look good or not. New york could save millions by just not purchasing any more airpacks and selling the ones they have to departments that use them

You really don't know how firefighting operations work, do you? If everyone went off on their own and did their own thing there would be no organization and people would get hurt. By properly rotating members in and out of the operation, you're keeping your members safe. Everyone has a job to do and the FDNY luckily has the resources to be vigilant and have the members available to fill these jobs when the time is right with fresh members who are ready to work. Also a key point that everyone seems to forget is that this turned into an outside operation once command realized that the fire would soon put the firefighters inside in an untenable and dangerous position. All the guys who would normally be the inside team are now on the outside waiting for new assignments to help coordinate the exterior attack.
