I love watching singers breathe. I notice that young singers today can often be either overly conscious of their breath (therefore stiff and unemotional) or too loose (therefore sloppy and/or excessive emotionally). Gruberova finds the perfect balance. She was capable of fluttering about on stage as Adele while maintaining such control of the voice. Every note is crystal clear, but never robotic. On the contrary, she humanizes the character completely. Point being, I just love her!

OMG. Yes, every detail was executed perfectly. Most singers sing the hardest part of this song like quite faster, and the laughter is not a laughter at all. But this, my God she really delivers them all.

also unbelievable that she incorporated all that not only in supreme comic acting but also changing the vocal placement into crazy comic ways... a true phenomenon

I have never worn a corset, but i wonder whether it might help with singing by providing extra support. Not that Edita needed more support. She is the pinnacle for me.

😀). GRACIAS EDITA.

Wow!!! I've never been a fan of her timbre but - as weird as it might sound :) - this performance almost makes you forget her voice in favour of her sense of humor, overwhelming stage personality and command over her instrument. Thanks for another delightful upload
@jmiller056 жыл бұрын
I actually like her timbre for the high coloratura roles, it has a weightless quality I appreciate. Obviously when she tried singing Norma it sounded weightless in every way possible lol. This is truly gorgeous, imaginative singing however. Gruberova in her prime was by far the greatest coloratura talent of the late 20th century.

They look like they are having the BEST time on that stage! Early Gruberova could be a beautiful thing indeed, but she's been on the stage for fifty years now and I think it's long past time to call it a career.

Ah, early Gruberova... Who would have thought she'd still be singing after 50+ career years. Honestly, why does she still keep getting hired? It's not like she excels at it, or ever did for that matter. So what does she have to offer apart from a name that isn't even that meaningful?
@LohengrinO6 жыл бұрын
to be honest she sings much much better than other people in her age... my disagreement lies on the repertoire she chose to sing in her later years
