Beaver dams are awesome. I painted all of mine black and made black flags with custom logo's for each of the family members so we can easily see the tip ups and flags and we can see the flags a mile away. The black also keeps them warm in the sun.

Cool video! Ditch the BDs for polars set light with smaller trebles and you would catch three times as many fish, including the perch and crappies if they bite. Also, ditch the gilliteen. A small bobber waited with the smallest sinker and a tiny treble will out fish all those rigs on a day like that. Shouldn’t be giving all this away but if you like catching more fish take note… Otherwise, continue to have fun and keeping making cool vids!

I wonder if the bass were just feeling the resistance of the minnows being on the line. Like the minnow didn't just slurp in because it was tied off even with as light of pressure as it takes to spin the tip up.

You got some nice ice where you're at. IDK about our ice on the Winnebago / Fox River lake system yet. We seen a couple holes and a few shacks on Little Lake Butte des Morts, but we just had rain / snow mix and above freeze highs with close to 60 come Wed / Thurs. It may be a couple weeks before we can get out, we're hoping at least by Christmas.

Leave the skin on the bass. Season with a little salt, pepper, and garlic powder after marinating it in Italian Dressing. Grill it for about 10 minutes, leaving the skin on. When done it should just come right off the skin. Definitely my favorite way to eat bass, both smallmouth and largemouth!

@Wisconsin_Fisherman2 жыл бұрын
It all depends on the fish and how they are acting I thought about putting jigs on them to try something way different
@KermitTheGamer212 жыл бұрын
To the haters: As long as it's legal to do so, keeping some bass under 14" is actually important when the bass become overcrowded. It allows some fish to grow larger into trophy fish. And come on. Keeping four or five bass isn't going to hurt the population in the lake, there's probably thousands of bass in there!

Darnit I was going to comment that the hook is too big then you say it yourself! Yes, it was obvious to me that the bass was tasting the minnow but also could taste and/or smell the hook and didn't want it. Smaller hooks catch bigger fish too, so I go with as small as I can get away with. Number 14 or 16 treble is what I use for crappie. It's so small it easily gets out of larger fish too.
@Wisconsin_Fisherman2 жыл бұрын

U see how the fish almost stops when the minnow starts to take off, it's cold fish are lazy they don't want to chase. If you take your weight down to 4 to 5 inches above the minnow this will trigger a lot more fish and keep your bait in the feeding zones all the time.
@shane62322 жыл бұрын
And yes downsize your hook! Just as you questioned yourself I'm adding this comment. I use a size 10 or 12 for everything and I've got a lot more hookups.

I live up near Kyle, and he is right. Many of our lakes have lots of them. And I think that the little ones (11-14 inches) eat great. To me they taste the same as a bluegill, at least in northwestern Wisconsin. Once they get to 16-inches, I rarely eat one.
