Once on a boundary waters trip a fisherman I hold in high regard told me “don’t leave fish to find fish.” I think you guys made the right call sticking around.

I think your first question was spot on. Should have started in a bay. Seem too early for the big fish to move out to mid lake structure

Quite possibly true, we just kept moving out until we found something to fish for at the mouth. Maybe we missed the big fish payoff, or maybe that was just pretty much what that lake has to offer right now. I’m still curious! But we did catch one really nice one and had three good marks that either didn’t bite or we didn’t land, so it worked out OK.

We certainly drilled. I think this lake may be suffering from too many fish, not enough food. Hopefully a year or two and fat days will return. Next stop...maybe MN? Maybe ND?
