Crazy because I walked into finishline in 2019 and almost passed on them. This was right before resell spiked and you couldn't get shoes in-store for a while. It was the last pair in-store. The salesman let me try them on and I was sold. Glad he did his job 🤣🤣

New subscriber. I Like your content. I don’t have a pair of 9s in my collection (primarily cause I don’t really like the silhouette) but I do love the cool gray color way. I wear my 11s often. I’m still on the fence with these. They do look good though, I can’t lie. Dope review man.

For me, it's been a hate relationship with 9s. For me, as a kid, that shoe signifies the year I lost my childhood hero because he abandoned basketball and went to baseball which I've always hated baseball. As an adult though, I now understand that he retired because his father was murdered shortly after his (or shortly before, rusty memory) third championship, first threepeat and Michael wanted to leave basketball on a poetic ending and pursue baseball which he and his father loved. My second reason for hating 9s is I can't get over how much they look like hiking boots... Especially the lacing system. They just don't vibe as a sneaker to me. That being said, there's definitely something special about the Cool Grey 9. It even has me reconsidering if I would give a 9 a chance. But my inner child keeps remembering Michael leaving the game. I might have to try one of these though.

Thats a hell of a personal connection and I'm thankful you shared that. This is what sneakers is missing in general. It's a testament that they resonate with you enough to reconsider, but those memories last a lifetime. The Jordan 9 isn't a top tier silhouette for many of the reasons you listed above. I agree with you completely. Sneaker culture never started as what it is today. It was never an investment hobby or reseller market. You bought shoes back then that was over the top cool, look at what I got, or as something smooth and clean like Run DMC and Adidas. Sneaker culture was about loving your shoes, wearing them, being proud to be seen in them. I don't buy anything I won't wear out. I even still wear my 2017 bred 13s. That being said, the Cool Grey 9s are starting to hit with me.

I don't know, I haven't heard anything about them re-tooling the AJ9 so as far as I know, its the same toebox they've been releasing? I could mistaken though. Definitely understand if you're not going after them!
