◆ THANK YOU FOR SUBSCRIBING OUR CHANNEL!
Welcome to our channel! We are located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest (PNW)! We are in the middle of our journey to create a beautiful Japanese maple garden and develop bonsai trees for everyone to enjoy. Our garden is under construction but we hope to open it up to public in the near future! Follow us if you love Japanese maples and want to know what's happening in our garden! In this channel, we focus on walking thru our Japanese maple bonsai garden throughout all seasons, discussing how to prune Japanese maples, how to air layer Japanese maples, how to propagate Japanese maples and how to take care of them including pruning, fertilizing, etc.

Thanks for sharing your garden and especially the fantastic clump tree you acquired from Bjorn. It's interesting to see the slightly different characteristics that come through on what were originally different seedlings. I'm interested to see if it looks more uniform mid-summer & fall. Shouldn't be noticeable in winter silhouette, though, which I imagine is when it would be shown.

Yeah good point - this is the first Spring with this tree in the garden and I did notice one of the trunks produces leaves with slightly redish color. They will look more uniform mid summer/fall for sure.

That is one AMAZING Japanese maple clump!! I have a maple clump that I have been working on for a few years now and watching this is inspiring! I don’t expect my clump to end up as amazing as yours…….. but I have hopes! I had Andrew Robson of Rakuyo Bonsai look at it and give his opinion on it, I have also had Tony Fajarillo of PBSA look at it too!! It’s still many years away from being anything……. but both Andrew and Tony think it has a lot of potential.

Awesome! Andrew and Tony are one of the best out there in the PNW and your clump style tree seems to be on the right course well done! yYes I love this clump style tree too much - Huge Kudos to Bjorn who built this tree from scratch - Now that it's on the west coast, I hope more people get to see it and can appreciate this tree.

Lovely tree. Great job keeping it in good form! I just did some spring work on my kabudachi 'Twombly's Red Sentinel' but it has many more years of development before it will look like this. Bravo!!🙏🪴🍁

What should I use on my maple seedlings for insects? I am just curious what you used on your maple seedlings. But your trees are beautiful as always. Thanks
@MomijiEn
@MomijiEn 5 ай бұрын
I dont usually have any major insect issues here (maybe just lucky) but you can use regular insecticidal soap or Bonide systemic one. Thanks!

Hey, man! At 6:21, you mention “cutting leaves in half to further balance the energy…” What does that actually mean?
@MomijiEn
@MomijiEn 3 ай бұрын
Cutting leaves in half helps 1) sunlight to reach inside of the canopy and 2) control growth in varies areas - for example, you can cut leaves in half near the apex only to slow down the growth at the top while lower/side branches with full leaves can continue to grow stronger :)

Love your collection!!! I have a question for you: I have a Japanese maple that didn’t “shoot” last year, it only pushed out leaves. It’s in a bonsai pot with APL (Akadama, pumice, lava) and last year was the first time it didn’t shoot, so this year, I started fertilizing that tree earlier to see if that helps. Any ideas why it’s not pushing vigorous shoots?
@MomijiEn
@MomijiEn 5 ай бұрын
Thanks! Hmm did you just repot it last year? Or could it be that it's over due for repotting? From my experience, slow growth usually indicates that the roots are not established yet or not growing as they should due to soil condition. Hopefully it will start pushing some vigorous growth this year! 💪

Funny you should ask, I was planning on checking the roots today. I’ll let you know my findings. Thanks for the sound advice!

I have a important question,I’ve been air layering and successfully have 3,how long do you wait befor you turn it into bonsai
@MomijiEn
@MomijiEn 5 ай бұрын
As soon as you separate them, I call them bonsai :) Depending on the quality of the trunk/branch structure, you can turn one into a really good bonsai in a few years!
@aldiesel3588
@aldiesel3588 5 ай бұрын
So keep them in a pot for awhile before wire and akadama in a bonsai pot?
@MomijiEn
@MomijiEn 4 ай бұрын
@@aldiesel3588 it depends on the development stage of the tree. If you want to thicken up the trunk, it may be better to pot it into nursery pot (ie Anderson flat) using some organic soil. If the air layered tree already has good trunk and secondary branches, you may want to pot it in a bonsai pot with Akadama/pumice etc
