My sister in law at Christmas dinner......plans were for everyone to arrive around 3pm, dinner starting first course for 26 people at 4.30pm, but my sister in law shows up with husband and kids at 10.30am, expecting to be fed, while I'm running around still in my pajamas trying to prepare all the dinner items. They are sitting around expecting to be served 4 hours early....it was a poop show.....being obnoxiously early is the worst...it my opinion lol.👍

I once heard the explanation that people are either Time or Event oriented. So if you're time oriented, then you are thinking "at 7:00 p.m. on the 25th, we are going to the Carrabas on Hwy 214 for dinner", whereas if you are event oriented, you are thinking "on the 25th we are meeting the Smiths for dinner!" So in essence, one person is thinking about being at a place at a certain time, the other is thinking about eating dinner with friends. The event oriented are more likely to be late.

I really don't know why an early person bothers being early when they know they are meeting someone always late. Like, 20 minutes early plus 20 minutes late means you are sitting there like a sucker wasting 40 minutes!
@dagman85
@dagman85 Жыл бұрын
I can definitely relate more to being late than early. I think part of the mental process that leads to chronic lateness is the desire to not waste time, which comes from the idea that if you arrive somewhere early, you'll be sitting around doing nothing. Of course this ignores the time of the other people that can get wasted when you arrive late to certain things. So it's definitely a myopic mindset, but I thought it might help people to understand some of what's behind it.

Didn't realize how chronically early I am until I realized I relate to nearly every single one of Brad's scenes 😅 I often have to visit clients' homes for work and won't stop using my GPS unless I'm 100000% sure I know where I'm going AND I have plenty of time in case I have to look up directions anyways. Most of my coworkers use the GPS ONCE, esp if it's in-town, and then leave with the half the amount of time they need to be on-time and just wing it.

I'm an "on time" type of person. I have all of my clocks set ahead at different variations throughout the house .(silently driving my hubby nuts) Then again..people laugh because we still own clocks!!!! But there is something nice about getting up early..being awake and seeing and incredible and varied sunrise...listening to birds and early morning sounds..Being on time gives you the illusion of being in control...even when your not. When I worked in the serious work world..I was always 20 minutes early..I could get myself organized without being frazzled ,and be ready for the day .I worked as an intake worker in a mental health facility so things could get intense easily..Believe me..being an early ,on time, type really helped in those situations of stress because you had the sense of being prepared.Makes sense..Yes!!

So if the real time is 2:51 and the microwave is set to 2:30 and you go by the microwave time, you will be 20 minutes late. The microwave needs to be set to 3:10.
