As far as blockbuster additions to the Spurs over the years I go back to Rodman. It was I'll fated but at the time he was one of the most famous personas in basketball. It wasn't a good fit as we all know and he went on to win more rings with the Bulls but I feel it was an opportunity missed for SA. Phil had the right idea - let the guy do whatever he wants and know you can rely on him... and the Bulls got an amazing workhorse out of it. Not saying that the Spurs would or should experiment like that now but just going back to what I consider perhaps the wildest moment in Spurs player history.

This “we need a PG” debate is ridiculous. You need a scoring wing a 3-D player and more shooting . More specifically you need an upgrade at Keldon position . He the odd man out . Tre is a great . One of the best assist to turnover ratios in the league . The spurs were top 5 in assists . Everyone wants a ball dominant PG for no reason

Tre has stepped up his 3 point percentage and he's a solid finisher at the rim, but damn his float game and mid range is not existent. Hets not a true scoring threat what so ever. This is coming from a big Tre fan. He would excel as a back up pg.

we dont need to pair wemby with trae young asap, we can just let him be disgruntled in atlanta and just wait for him to ask for trade, we dont need to rush to get him, because we will destroy our cap space, flexibility and give up atleast 2 core pieces for him. After we fleeced atlanta with all of their future picks, they will surely ask for more if we wanted to trade for trae. I agree with you on what we needed the most right now, is a solid 3-d wing to help sochan and wemby on defense, because as a good as a hustle player on defense is tre jones, he is just too small for big point guards.

If the team keeps 2024 draft pick "the team gets younger". I don't get it, all players Wemby, Vassell, Sochan get a year older, how does this make the team younger. More importantly, they will get one summer to work together. Also, the idea of trading out of this draft doesn't make sense, no matter how you slice it, this team has 4 - 4 1/2 good players. They need more talent across the board.

Seems like there are very few statistically 40+% 3 point shooters in the draft: Reed, CWilliams(but few shots), Dillingham. Rishacher fell off his accuracy so not including him... Doesn't seem like they have many choices without gambling. and CWilliams is the only tall one of the 3.

From what I've seen given the Spurs improvement at end of season I don't think scrapping the core is wise. If the draft doesn't give them a strong shooter though then why keep the pick? Spend some money and give the spot to someone who has something SA can use. The Spurs already have enough works in progress which are growing nicely. Look to the past where they grabbed people like Kerr and Horry - deadly shooters who didn't have to throw up huge numbers or have even many years left in the league but who got them W's.

sas will trade out if 2025 first round pick is involved to receive in exchange. sas planning on not being in the lottery again for 10 years unless VW were to have an injury year. sas could be on the cusp 2024-2025 but that would be the last year. Makes Atlanta 2025, 2026, 2027 picks super valuable, they will probably never trade them

Spurs have potentially 3 1st rounds next year and 2 2nd rounds Depending on where the Hawks end up (and they seem to be about to blow it up to rebuild) we could have a lottery pick next year also

I just don't see the Spurs making big trades or signings? Trades have never been the Spurs way, and I doubt we give up a bunch of assets in Wemby's first few years, but we can't continue to draft a bunch of first round picks for the next 3+ years and not think that won't stunt player development. We don't really have much cap room, can make trades to help with sign and trades, but I just don't think the Spurs want to bring in older players for a bunch of money to take up some younger player minutes. I think the spurs will run it back with new first round talent to give these young guys a shot to develop. Me, I'd trade for a big upgrade at point and a taller wing and tear it all down to make it happen, but I'm wrecklesss and want championships now!

I agree Mamu shoud start over Sochan. I'm getting tired of these fans' favoritism about Sochan. He doesn't offer much besides an ok defense (which is overrated). This guy can't be our starter if we will be a contender soon. He is undersized to be our main PF and too slow to become SF. He should be relegated to the bench or he could be a trade piece along with Keldon to acquire a solid veteran.

well sochan is only 20 turning 21, they surely want to see him develop why wont they give him minutes?, he is our best defender second only to wemby, he will need alot of reps to develop and showed all the flashes that he can be a opportunistic scorer. The spurs are not even contending this year no sense to play heavy minutes on players that you know what are they capable off, if the spurs really wanted to win this season they would have played all of the older guys heavy mins with wemby, but they want to see what their previous picks chemistry with wemby.
