Knights Templar joined Robert the Bruce at Bannockburn in 1314 to destroy Edward 2nd English army, these were the founders of Switzerland, and the Masonic Lodges in Scotland and London...Scotland has a long history even before it was called Scottish Rite.

Kilwinning and Portugal 🇵🇹 where the remnants of the knights templar ended up Kilwinning 0 were the first lodge 1400 there were Masons at Kilwinning Abbey before this the degree of knights templar is in Scottish freemasonry. You could say the Scottish rite 😉 was very much involved with the founders of the USA 🇺🇸. Definitely founded in Scotland.

I'm a 3rd degree master mason from Idaho(35 yr life member) and I recently heard that I can't attend lodge in England because I'm not a 4th degree mason. Is there any truth to this? Maybe Arturo de Hoyos is correct in saying that historically there are higher degrees than the 3rd degree? I was taught that the 3rd degree was all I needed.

As long as your jurisdiction has a mutual recognition agreement with the United Grand Lodge of England you may visit their Lodges. The "rule" you mentioned, whoever told you this, I would advise to not put too much stock in their words because it is clear that they do not know what they are talking about. I highly recommend for you to visit other jurisdictions, especially outside of the USA. There are other rituals completely different from the American Rite (aka Blue Degrees or Preston-Webb) and experiencing them will give you a much profound appreciation to the true Universality of our Society of Freemasons.

I attended several lodges in England in 2019 before my Exaltation to the Royal Arch with no problem. As I understand it, though, there are some lodges that require the Royal Arch to attend. Keep in mind that English Master Masons go straight to Royal Arch as opposed to US York Rite Masons for whom the Royal Arch is the seventh degree (preceded by Mark Master, Virtual Past Master, and Most Excellent Master). The RA is far more important in England than in the US; it's really considered the completion of the MM degree since it involves recovering the Lost Word.

Very well presented Bro. On this journey of life I have often taken the road less traveled. Being raised by Masonic philosophy and standards, I have made probably the best choice in life that I have ever made in my 20s... Was initiated into the Craft under the English constitution. It has taught me the reasons for my strict upbringing and allowed me to explore those mysteries that are not necessarily widely known to society. A few years ago I have resigned from my mother Lodge and another Lodge that I was a member of. Likewise from all the side Orders. This choice was a really hard one to make as I still am, as before my initiation a Mason by heart. The reason for my resignation being that I have neglected the sacred knowledge I have been entrusted with, aswell as the Wisdom of my parents and sibling (also Brother) All as a respectful gesture towards my Mother Lodge and Freemasonry in general. Only because I have been unknowingly and unwilling placed in a position where the most vulnerable and personal moments of my private life would be made available to scrutiny from the insidious. As it has become, by chance that I have realized that the people who I have opened my doors, my heart and as my duty toward mankind to serve those in need.... Indeed were the one's who caused me so much harm as to consider my entire existence. I found refuge in those things that was intended as reward for a days labour and found it to be more comforting to the point where my life began to show the choices of my desperation. Resigning from Freemasonry and staying true to the obligations I have made in the presence of my GOD and fellow Brethren. On the lighter sides, I would wholeheartedly like to thank you for sharing this and the manner of your presentation as it reminded me of very important aspects of life as of which I have been made privilegedley aware of to explore. This in itself, my Brother I and fellow Brethren and all, I might honestly say to be a true reminder of the privileges and mysteries of the Devinely guided choice we have made by choosing first in our H to become a Mason. Yet another motion of gratitude to you and the Order by driving my thoughts from darkness to consider that what has been Illuminated by the Mysteries and Privileges in closer examination into the Craft, both in my current situation as an operative Mason and applying it figuratively to my actions. Fun how they do know the St John’s are in the land of the mi’kmaq in New Brunswick and Newfoundland .
