This is a fascinating and comprehensive account of the history, origin and use of the Tracing Board in Freemasonry. It was written by the imposingly named Brother E.A.T. Breed and first published in 1904.

2:09 - Where is this supposed "initiate" being adorned with a mop and pail? I am quite confident that Brother Breed erred in this observation of _both_ versions of Hogarth's Night.

I must agree. I thought this was odd when I put the video together. I guess at a stretch there is a 'mop' and a 'slop bucket' visible in the engraving, but they don't have much to do with the main characters.
