As a kid I craved the big fish. As a senior I'll take Crappie all day everyday.

I'm in the same boat man. I'll take panfish over anything. Trophy panfish are actually harder to consistently catch than any other game fish. Crappies over 14" in Minnesota or bluegills over 10.5" are a hunt to find, and you have to release them in lieu of keeping some smaller fish.

Imagine growing up in the 80s/90s, watching these guys fish water that clear. Our bath water isn’t even that clear🤣😂 Gotta love the Red River Valley, TX ✝️🎣🐟

Fished that spot for over 30 plus years and it produces some really big crappies. Ty went to the same school as me growing up and is a heck of a Good Fisherman. Fishing with Al would be a blast in my Opinion.

Can't wait for all the hard water to go away so I can start fishing again. Would like some crappies for the deep fryer.

Saying early season does not help. It all depend on the water temperature. You need to tell us what month and what is the water temperature. Early season like early April in North US with 40-50 degree temperature you got no fish in the lake.

We have been on nice crappies since 2 days after ice out in Central Minnesota. Was up nearly by Duluth this weekend, water temp was 38.8degrees. We crushed fish for 2 days. Just have to know where they're staging in certain phases of the year/temp cycle. They're very predictable pre-spawn, almost easier to catch in 12feet of water than at any other time of the year. Once spawn happens they can be almost anywhere, and post spawn they roam basins again until ice up.
