+Louise Norris Hi Louise! We usually set our furthest decoys at about 40 yards out on the right and 40 yards out on the left. That way, we can use them as a gauge for shooting distance. Thanks for watching!

Riley Purinton the wind is more important than the sun. If you can though just run a J pattern if you’re really worried about the sun.

I'm new to goose hunting and I only have 12 decoys. How many decoys to you recommend for a new goose hunter??? I was thinking of getting another dozen and half.

12 is a great start.. If you can get another 12, that would be even better. But anything you can do with 24 decoys can be done with 12, only at a smaller scale. We like to hunt with 36 decoys, but that can be expensive for a new goose hunter. It takes awhile to compile all those decoys!

Try looking into Craigslist and into apps like OfferUp. A lot of times after season is over some older guys or newer guys who just didn't like the sport will put their decoys up for sale. You can find some great deals sometimes.
