after watching this entire video, I'm positive you're actually talking about my daughter ;). Every detail you explained is her. we recently found out she is missing one of her #4 chromosomes and they do think she has ASD. She is going to be 2 in December. Thank you so much for sharing this! it's great to know that my daughter has other awesome friends out there just like her :)

My son is currently in the process of being evaluated for autism. He is two and I originally was worried about his lack of speech. After his first two visits with the speech therapist they started asking me "odd" questions. I knew then that there were thinking he had autism. I am so glad I found your channel! Your videos have helped calm my nerves.

Thank you Stacey! This has been very insightful. Our son is going through the exact same symptoms. He's almost 19 months old. Planning to get him diagnosed next week. Initially we mistook him for being a very independent and content child. His symptoms seem to be getting severe - especially the hand flapping, spinning and shaking head. Looking forward to watch all your videos. God bless!

That was a really interesting video. I really get what you mean when people say 'my child does that too' and their child doesn't have autism. My son was diagnosed just over a year ago. He is 4.5 years old and has been receiving additional support for over two years. He has come on more than I dreamt possible. Many people are shocked he has autism and we get lots of comments about how good his eye contact and speech is etc. It's been a long journey. I would love to eventually make a video like this one day. I am so glad to hear you talk about hyper and hypo sensitivity. My son is mainly hypo ( it can be different in different areas). However I feel the stereotype of autism is hyper sensitivity and people were shocked he liked deep tissue massage, or could spin and not get dizzy. Please keep makIng these videos. The awareness they raise will be fantastic! Also keep up the good fight to get your son the help he needs and deserves. Much love X Cherrysnotmyname 🍒 Cherie 💕

You know you son better than anyone else, so follow your instincts. My brother is autistic, so I've grown up around the hospital appts and difference in behaviour. At times I've got myself into a right flap over my son (who's also 21 mths) when he spins round and round, refuses to wave (he'll do it really randomly when we're leaving someone/somewhere) and does something called visual stimming. I've calmed down a lot as he seems to be coming on just fine and I'm confident he'll grow out of the stimming thing. I mentioned it to a paediatrician in Dec, who said to "keep an eye on it" and arranged another appt for him in a year's time, if needed. In all honesty, it's just the stimming which bothers me, he's fine in all other areas. Thank you for making this video, I was hoping you would. It's interesting to see the signs you noted. Wishing Jacob well and an accurate diagnosis in the near future xx

Thanks Yinka your right, and this is why I never give in it took so many appointments to even get seen I was not messing around I know my son. Autism runs in my husbands family too. You know your son so if it's just the visual stimming and nothing else that worries you like the doctors said just keep an eye on it and don't worry. Jacob also visual stims. I wouldn't change his personality for the world xx

Stacey! Thank you so much for this informative video. I'm so thankful there's a mama out there who is able to nearly spell out the signs displayed by her child and use that to help others. I have a little guy who is 14 mos and still trying to get him his initial eval. I've never made a comment on one of these before, but things change when you're a mama and I'm starving for information. so, thank you so very much. I'd love an update on Jacob. 😊

My son has all of the sign of autism that you spoke about in your video! We are currently going through the pedestrian and speech and language but everytime I mention Autism they just try and make me feel better and say it might be more of a delay than a disorder. But I've known deep down for awhile something isn't right with my little boy but they don't seem to listen to me, All I want to do is the best for him.

This is my 14 month over the back. Especially the food and speech. Her hand flapping has stopped but it’s ear pulling now. Got her hearing checked but because there was a toy in front of her she wouldn’t look this is the biggest thing, if she’s focused she will not hear anything nor look. She’s not affectionate at all hates cuddles which is hard at times. No pointing or waving. Eye contact is poor. I’ve got her 13-15 month assessment tomorrow so I’m gonna bring up my concerns. My brother and niece have autism and it’s genetic so I’m convinced this is the problem. Taking her anywhere is a nightmare! She won’t interact with kids at all and if she’s in a mood she will cry the entire time. Most of the day she cries and whinges it’s hellish. My eldest daughter was totally different so I’m not coping great at all. Thank you for this as tomorrow I’m gonna demand she’s assessed x

I’ve commented before and now am watching this again. Adeline is now 18 months and everything apart from stimming is what my daughter does. Even the singing a part of her fave song that’s how I get her attention! She babbles too has 3 words but she ends up forgetting them. I’m on the waiting list to get her reviewed. Sadly she hates any contact unless it’s on her terms. Her understanding is terrible too she doesn’t understand anything I say.

Flapping and spinning tip toe walking , texture , feeling smell , hearing. Etc can be related to sensory processing disorder , u can have spd , without autism , I have 4 autistic children , 3 also have spd , my youngest , was diagnosied age 2 , asd , spd tendacy , non vocal , no babbling either , now he has few word , he has been diagnised with selective mutism , and global developmental delay , they now gonna test him for a chromsone fault 🙈 , all 4 my kids dont like cuddles , 2 youngest cuddle on there own terms , none my kids make any eye contact Dr will only diagnos autism , if they meet the score , , the min score is 9 , the max score is 22 , my eldest daughter score was 15, my youngest daughter got 19 , im still waiting for the report for my 3 yr old , Most dr will not diagnose as they dont like to labal 🙈 Getting help at early age is the key 💖💖💖💖

I think you should wait it out my little sister act different. She didn't talk until she was about 4 or 5 . Now she can't stop talking lol . She seems to be out of space all the time like not really paying attention . I don't think she really comprehend what she reads and she's 9. She's really smart . She's in a regular 3rd grade class . Good grades . She can read really good but if you ask her what she read she forgets . We been working with her on comprehending . Also I think the cartoons had lot to do with her behavior. She act like spongebob . My Mom use to let her watch tv all day everyday . I think she thinks the way to act , think and talk is like SpongeBob. Idk I hope she grows out of it . Also I notice when it's a group of kids she's always the one playing by her self or to really reacting with the other kids . Or not really taking and interacting. If it's one or two kids she will

Textures make my teeth hurt. So perhaps that's what's happening? anything like foil makes me have to clench my jaw. I'm not autistic but I do have OCD and hypersensitivity. And if I even think about metals lile aluminum foil, or pennies, or certain noises make me have to bite my lip and clench my jaw.
@BMarie7748 жыл бұрын
Ugh, you totally missed the entire point of that. Misophonia and OCD effects people in a way in such that certain textures or sounds, or even seeing someone do something that triggers them ( for me an example of that is seeing someone chew on the end of pencil, or even seeing aluminum foil. It's not about chewing or eating a certain thing.. No one said that. Not me. With autism especially, this is true. Sensory is major factor. Textures, sounds, and visuals can be triggers to these sorts of things.

Sorry I don't post much and wanted to finish the last comment...he was still bullied as some special need children are violent and my son is not.the school seem to accept that violence comes with special needs sometimes and in my mind they couldn't stop it from some children that would not see reason.i see a post below who was bullied in mainstream .its everywhere .also I spent ages trying to get my young son to look at me.my eyes.and one day it worked and then I read that they will look at your nose and you think they are looking at your eyes.my son when older said he did look at noses instead of eyes as it fooled them.now he clearly does look and read eyes. I don't know what changed that.i was always touching and kissing his baby head but I would have done it non stop to help stimulate his nerves in his brain ,it might of helped I don't know.best wishes to all you parents.

My son does the "gripping" flapping you describe. It comes and goes I find. Mostly when he is over stimulated. Do you know the name of so I can research it more? Mine is also biting when he is over stimulated and he is not 2 and half. He does say full sentences. He vocabulary has built up but I am notice a lot of his gross motor skills are barely developing like hoping and skipping. I don't know what is normal because I have my nephews or other children to compare him too.
@alittletlc8 жыл бұрын
unique olague: You asked what it is called. If you are asking about the flapping & biting and that sort of thing... it is called stimming. My grandson has flapped since he was an infant. He is a head banger rocker and he does the motions of picking up food and eating it, however there is no food. It is just something that he does. he doesn't respond to his name and he is non verbal. he has not been assessed yet, because his mom and dad don't believe me when I talk about autism. I wish they would just have him evaluated. If he isn't autistic,,, YAY LORD HAVE MERCY! But I know how important early diagnosis is. These children need special therapy, extra guidance etc. Pray that his mom and dad jump on their sons autistic behaviors and have him tested. God bless, and thank you!

What is Jacob like at toddler groups or classes? I'm having a lot of trouble with Penny recently she gets in such a state and we have to either leave. Or for example we went to the library for rhyme time and as soon as we walked in and she saw all the kids and adults she got really upset and avoided going anywhere near it. We spent an hour walking round the libuary and she was happy then but if she saw the group she got upset and walk in the other direction. I'm noticing it more and more xx

+Stacey Leigh (mummyandthebubbas) I've been worried recently about her reactions to the groups etc, penny doesn't really play with kids either and she'll freak out if an adult talks to her. We had a phase a while back where even just being in a shop in a cue she wouldn't cope as the people were too close. Even people just walking past the buggy. Or it would be worse if people even spoke to her or me. It's been going on a while and is just changing slightly with different situations but doesn't seems to be stopping, does that make sense? If she's outside at a park or soft play she does her own thing just plays by herself and avoids everyone xxx

Jacob was exactly the same at 16 months, he has no interest in children/babies but wants to interact with adults. Lack of concentration is so Jacob 100%. You sound so much like me, I was going through the private way but a lot of the support Jacob would need etc don't take a diagnosis from a private doctor. So we decided to wait 6 weeks. Once you get in the door it does open up more support you can get, don't get me wrong it's so hard and draining but we would do everything for our children right. Yes i can do a video on that Hun. Just take a breathe Hun you are doing all the right things. Xxx
