My belly been large for a long time (always had one) the older I've gotten it just won't flatten and my weight is being stubborn and hard to lose. Blood glucose has been beautiful until last weeks hematology blood test said my glucose is 151, when I have always been 80-90. That sugar binge has stopped now im back on my fasting. I don't have dark patches or skin tags but my feet swell a little and I itch more.

I have never been told I was insulin resistant. I was diagnosed with pcos at age 11. I am 40 now with type 2 diabetes. Had gestational with both pregnancies. It took me 8 years to get pregnant. I did fertility treatments but was unsuccessful. I lost 50 pounds got pregnant with baby 1. Gained it all back. Lost 50 again got pregnant with baby 2...was a surprise cause I was focused on baby 1 and thankful I had 1. Haven't gotten pregnant since but I struggle with sugar and carbs. It's a cycle. I lose weight get off track get stuck on sugar and carbs get back into losing then it all starts over. Pcos is invisible...I forget I have it til everything is wacked out then I focus again but diabetes is another form of wack it's making me so weak physically.

I had none of the warnings! Except that I was 28 lbs overweight but without much belly fat, I had none of the early signs. I love baking and my breakfasts consisted of croissants, pancakes, muffins and my desserts were cakes, ice cream and cookies. I made my own sourdough bread, focaccia and flatbreads and sure enough, I ended up pre-diabetic with an A1c of 6.2. The first time I knew I had high glucose levels was 4 years ago but my doctors said nothing about it, maybe because the A1c was normal then. It scared the heck out of me because my grandfather died blind with an amputated leg from diabetes. So 4 months ago I stopped all baking, cut all sugar and carbs and started with intermittent fasting on a low carb diet. I also got off my butt and started walking and biking every day. It’s amazing how the pounds just dropped. So far I’ve lost 24 lbs of the 28 and I have my next check up soon. I feel much better and I really hope that my new lifestyle and diet pay off.

I am hypothyroid and now insulin resistant. I found out from reading my doctors report after bloodwork. They did nothing about it although I have a ton of these symptoms you’re talking about. Rarely am I hungry. I make myself eat a good meal every day. Stay away from sugars. Increased protein, etc. I have steadily put on 30-lbs. It’s discouraging to do everything right, diet and exercise, but only gain weight. I decided the stress and disappointment was probably causing high cortisol levels so I stopped going to the gym and walk instead. I’m still never hungry so over eating is never a problem for me.

It's too bad you had to ask your doctor, but that's pretty normal unfortunately. I think doctors are good at pushing pills and treating sore throats. They practice tick box medicine. If it's not on their list, they don't do it. I had to take my health in my own hands and not rely on my doctor. Fortunately I have a heavy science background and understand why and how insulin does what it does and why ketogenic/carnivore type diets work. I hate giving diets a name, I just eat very low carb, but I don't pee on a strip to see if I'm in ketosis. I find I have to keep my carbs pretty low to keep all my numbers in line. Probably because I've been eating crap for too long, keeping my insulin levels too high.

I'm sticking with psychotherapy and weight loss. Less side effects! The funny thing is that people are obsessing over one shot of the C-vax but popping daily and weekly opiods, antibiotics and xanax. My mom's a retired nurse and she only takes medication when absolutely necessary. She's a bit naughty at age 74 as she only takes half her blood pressure pill when she's been prescribed the whole one. 😅😅 But she checks her blood pressure daily now. I have half of this list . I started with 3 last year. I told my endocrinologist who is a diabetes specialist and GP back then that I suspect I'm insulin resistant, I always have chocolate in my pockets, and they said I'm not, I'm average to most. But I'm not the same build as most it's not natural for me. I asked for a HOMA IR and they didn't know what it was. So folks do your own research because I believed them and now I'm worse. Take your own knowing to advocate your own health.

Hi Kait, the book mastering suggests eating no more than 15 percent healthy fats and high a carbohydrate diet.Is it possible for a high fat diet to lead to insulin resistance?
@HealthCoachKait3 ай бұрын
Not based on the vast majority of scientific evidence which demonstrates low carb, high fat is extremely effective at reversing insulin resistance.

What could be a reason behind someone with insulin resistance gaining weight on keto while counting calories and tracking macros and working out regularly?
@HealthCoachKait2 ай бұрын
Could be a few things. You’ve restricted calories for too long and your metabolism has slowed down (why I don’t recommend counting calories), too much of the wrong fats (nuts and seeds and especially their oils), too much high intensity exercise (steady state cardio). Any of those resonating?
@magnoliannaart2 ай бұрын
@@HealthCoachKait definitely! I’ve chased calorie counting down to an unhealthy level although I’m doing way better that way now. I know exactly how many calories are in the foods I eat so now I no longer count calories. I was also working out more and more frustrated that nothing was working. It became a form of self punishment which drs reinforced every time I asked them for help and they kept saying “well, obviously you’re not doing enough” You’d think my metabolism would have improved by now though. I have noticed some body recomp since starting on NAC and inositol but still zero shift in weight. Weight to me is a big deal because I can’t ride my horses when I’m this heavy.

That's weird I've had skin tags since I was a little girl and it's all in the areas where my clothes rub. I tested non insulin resistant and I am in good shape. That doesn't make sense.

Are they skin tags or moles? What test did you have for IR? Unless your insulin was tested it can be missed

@HealthCoachKait I had an a1c of a 4.7 and my insulin came back normal. I had a thyroid problem since I entered menopause but that was cured through iodine supplements. Yes I do have skin tags but I've had them literally since I was 13. Maybe it's hormone related.
