My doctor told me, "You're FINE! NO sign of diabetes!" My HBA1C was literally just ONE point away from the "orange" zone. Which would be prediabetes. I knew better, so I took it into my own hands. I check my HBA1C at home every 3 months, check my blood sugar regularly and have taken dietary improvement measures. ***EDIT*** Because the question is frequent in the comment thread I will add this. If you would like to check your HBA1C (AKA A1C call it which ever you choose here, they are the same thing) levels at home you can usually find the test kits at the drug store. I usually order from CVS. These come in a two pack. Everlywell has one more expensive and takes much longer to get results as it is mailed in. No matter the HBA1C (or A1C) test kit you use please be sure to follow directions EXACTLY so that you may get the most accurate results. If you want to keep a more regular check on your blood sugars you can also purchase a meter as well as the lancets and test strips. This can be a very good tool to check your progress as well as you make dietary changes. If you have an HSA account with your insurance you can usually use that to purchase these items. Just be sure to check the list of approved expenses beforehand. I check my fasting blood sugar daily. At the start it was between 110 and 119. Now it is usually between 89 and 105, with the majority of the readings being under 100. My starting HBA1C (A1C) was 5.5 and rose to a 5.7, which is when I began taking matters into my own hands at home since the doctor didn't see this as an issue. I hope this info is helpful.

I also have a glucose meter. From time to time I check my glucose in the morning while fasting, but also after a carb heavy meal or snack to see what how I'm doing in that regard. I was diagnosed with this a few weeks back but turns out I've had fairly useless doctors as I've had symptoms for years (including when I was very slim - BMI of 19) but I always noticed that if I slacked off at all with eating/exercise I'd gain weight around my stomach but nowhere else. I changed jobs but still ate under my supposed metabolic weight but gained about 40kg in 4-5yrs (30 of that in 3yrs). Again doctors would always focus on my iron which was chronically low and just said regarding insulin to just eat well and exercise which I was doing... finally a doctor took it seriously and with no change to life style and just Metformin (because I have been eating well and exercising a lot) I've dropped 2kg in 2 weeks which I never could and just maintaining was hard. Thank you for more information as I never knew so many of the symptoms I've had for years but no one took me seriously

I have not checked all of you uploads, but I recommend talking about skinny fat people. I know quite a few people that are tiny - 100 to 120 lbs thereabouts - and have full on diabetes. They drink a lot of Starbucks, never seem to gain weight, can fit any outfit they choose, and are diabetic, on medication, have unknowingly high blood pressure or recently found out that they do, and look fit a a fiddle. I write this because people usually start with the height to weight ratio and pictures of overweight people, but that lulls people falsely into tuning out the rest of the message. SKINNY FAT, now that's a topic.

Last fall I started the keto to reduce the inflammation. It helps and I've lost 30lbs but, I am still in pain and my left foot still swells at the ankle and always hurts. I was on a special diet to help with the yeast problem but unfortunately I lost 10 pounds and my normal weight is 80 pounds, so I had to stop the diet to gain my weight back. I was born with hormonal problem that I inherited from my mom, we both produce high levels of testosterone. She was skinny like me when she was younger, I'm still small in my 40's but I also haven't had cancers, gallbladder/kidney stones, or nor have children of my own, so I look extremely young and healthy looking when in truth been struggling since birth with health problems. Have you ever looked into high liver enzymes. I am a heavy drinker and got diagnosed with high liver enzymes. Obviously, my doctor said quit drinking. I didn't until my liver enzymes hit over 400. I stopped drinking for about a month and got rechecked. Well, they dropped 5 points. A couple years ago, I decided to change my lifestyle because of my arthritis. I went on a low carb diet and still drink heavy but my liver enzymes are at normal range. 14 years after be diagnosed, with the help of Dr. Bikman, I have normal liver enzymes.

I love you! I needed your channel . I am struggling with insulin resistance and pcos. I have frequent urination, hormonal acne, skinny with a pouch, dark armpits slightly, irregular cycle, more hair on my upper lip than I would like. I have been struggling for YEARS. It’s all starting to make sense on what I need to change . I was vegan for a few years and ate only carbs, it messes me up . I’m back on eating proteins and will begin cleaning my diet more. I am excited and motivated to do so since I want to be the best version of myself. Can you help with loose skin videos ?

I think being keto and then giving up on keto gave me insulin resistance. I put on two stone. Now I'm eating really healthily, not more than 1400 cals per day, all the right choices but I am not losing weight. Bmi 27 for about 4 months. It is not budging.

"... and addressing them with your doctor." LOL, that's really funny, because most doctors don't care if you have insulin resistance. Most doctors won't do a thing until you're pre-diabetic, and even then they don't really do anything.
