Asynchronous wednesdays need to become the new norm! It’s so much better for teachers and honestly a quieter day for the kids to do a small practice works well! So much planning and so many meetings get done!

Hi, I don't know if you will see this, but I am currently an education major in college. When you mentioned the Words Their Way Spelling Inventory I was so excited because that is an assessment that I was introduced to in my college course. I love watching your videos because I get to connect what I am learning in my classes to the real world. I also want to say thank you for showing the real-life side of teaching. I think you are doing a fantastic job!

Great video and thanks for sharing! I use Words Their Way in my middle school resource room for intervention. Most of my students are at the Within Word level.

Just found you yesterday! Your video came up as a recommendation.❤️ Hope you enjoy having all your kiddos back at school! That's so interesting that your school is doing half days. I enjoyed the extra time to lesson plan too. But we've been back in person all day for a couple of weeks now, so here it is Saturday and I don't have my lp for next week done yet...I teach preschool. ☺️ Glad I found you on here! 😎

I just did a measurement garden with my 2nd graders on Tuesday! They loved doing it. I found a template on TPT though, not as creative as you to do a directed drawing haha.

Where did you get the bench/"catch all" that is beneath your whiteboard? Also do you put cube organizers inside of them? Do you have a link? I like how versatile they are and noticed you have put them in your library before. Lastly, are they sturdy enough for students to sit/stand on them? Thanks so much for sharing!

Do you have your spelling test paper with the lines on your TPT? I love using the words their way spelling inventory! It is so insightful. I do wish they had variations of the words to use so that students are not just memorizing that specific word.

Hey, good to see you. I am back to the classroom 4 days a week with my middle schoolers since Monday and we are soooo happy. I have about 50% of my students. The rest has stayed home :( So I do one period with my in-person kids and one period with my remote students. It works well, but it is kind of sad for the remote students who are not in school. They feel even more unmotivated :(

Hi, love watching your videos, you are so real. Some teacher tubers I used to watch (now 7 yrs retired teacher but likes to keep up with current happenings) seem to act for the video. Your little one has gotten so big! I appreciate your sharing the good and the bad about teaching for those who may be in college. They need a real world look not just the glossed over look that some professors put on it. Do you feel the kids may have trouble with understanding correct spelling, use of capital letters, grammar etc. because in today's world they do not hear or see it often? Text messaging abbreviations replace words, "cool" slang replaces grammar. Many teachers on You Tube have charts or classroom displays with all capital letters used for headings or capital letters in the middle of the word. I have seen in some classroom videos where nothing is capitalized not even months of the year or days of the week. Early elementary kids must be confused as they see it written that way in the classroom but are told not to write that way.
@sarahabdu16603 жыл бұрын
I love inspirational teachers and classroom like this one, but you are absolutely right about the confusing fonts. All the new “cute fonts” have capitals mixed in words, even teachers are writing anchor charts and things “cute” mixing the letters. I am a teacher who LOVES a cute classroom but it really bothers me that teaches don’t seem to prioritize proper grammar above “cute” stuff. :( Some of them seem to sort of genuinely not notice the effect it’s having, but I think it’s important to point it out!
@EarlyEDventures3 жыл бұрын
Thank you!!! That might have something to do with it, but it is also a part of the world we live in, so I choose to expose them to that side too. We have open conversations about it....We talk about what fonts are. We talk about how fonts can be a type of art. We also talk about the different between written words and fonts. They totally get it, it's not confusing for them. To each their own!

I noticed that each of my pregnancies, I got bigger earlier every time! lol My 5th grader went from 4 days/2.5 hrs a week to 5 days/4.5 hrs a week and my 8th grader went from 2 days/2.5 hrs a week to 5 days/2.5 hrs a week. But I'm sadly still teaching remotely :(. I'm so happy teachers are getting to see their students in person!

How are you doing the read aloud? The idea of having to read the same book two different times is 😓 we are still pushing through the rest of the year with two groups. I hate the feeling of a disconnect but it’s whatever. Two more months. I’m considering doing the words their way assessment too. I’m not sure how helpful it’ll be since it’s the end of the year but who knows.

I’m very curious why many districts are choosing to do partial days? We’ve been in person since August full time and had minimal cases. Why not have kids the entire day if they’re already coming in person?
