How do you earn multiple thousands from one photoshoot? That's what I'll talk about in this video as I prepare my selections in Lightroom for my client.
This video looks at the steps involved from when a client makes the photo selections, how we organise those photos ready for photo editing and how, through licencing, we can earn more than what our primary client is paying us.
Previously I've covered the organizing of photos after the shoot here: • Architectural Photogra...
And also the steps necessary to get your proof photos to a state we can send back to our client: • Fast Editing For Archi...
The next video that starts looking at merging exposures from outside with interiors is here: • Combine Interiors with...
I hope this video is useful to you. If it is helpful I'd love to hear from you and please feel free to share it with others who may benefit! Thanks so much for watching! 🙏 and share the love with a thumbs up and/or a comment 😄

Out of approx 74 views that you shot, the client chose only about 16 from the proofs. Because of the amount of time and effort required to stage and light interior views, it annoys me terribly to shoot with proofing in mind. I believe Mike Kelley's mantra is, "If I shoot it, then I deliver it". I have tried working with commercial clients both ways -- shoot everything and send proofs vs collaborating with the client on-site to shoot only the views they request. Neither system seems to be fool proof and each has it's drawbacks. What are your thoughts?

Very informative. That's super interesting to see the workflow. I'd also be super interested in video where you explain your interactions with your clients !

thanks for sharing your knowledge, can't wait to see your post production, I guess a lot of luminosity masking involved!

Hi Alessandro. Yes I'll share some videos on the post production. For sure luminosity masking is an option but I have several other approaches I take too so I'll try to cover them all along the way.

I feel like some shots in this video, those beautiful bathroom shots for example, would’ve made it into the client’s portfolio if they were delivered finished. My experience with clients is that they aren’t good at visualizing what the finished photo will look like based on the proof. And that’s not necessarily their job, we may be expecting too much from them. My experience is that if I give the client the responsibility to pick from proofs, due to their lack of knowledge they will short change both themselves and me.

Love this series, really looking forward to the follow up. Not very sexy I know, but a word about license details would be useful.

Thanks for tip on how to remove yourself from the mirror reflection, honestly I never thought about it before :D Maybe you can show in the PS how to remove those reflections your client mentioned in the email. I always struggling using clone stamp tool or even painting it. I wonder what is your technique. And appreciate your videos and your time dedicated, very good content for RE photographers.

Great content as usual! You mentioned that flambient isn't necessary 'for a home like this one' and I'm very interested in how you determine if flambient is necessary or not? I'm primarily a real estate photographer struggling between choosing hdr and flambient methods. Do you base that decision off of luminosity in the room, or color casts? Or something else? Thanks!

Good point Jerod. I'll try and cover my thinking behind that in a future video.

Is it sometimes hard to sell them your vision on a particular shot, as the initials are often nowhere near the final? With a new client do you edit 1 image to show them the difference so they get an idea of what the before and after might look like?

Good question Doug. I think the clients get the concept pretty quickly that the finished shots will be a step up from the proof version. Initially, yes, it's a good idea to demonstrate a proof vs a finished shot. But it's also important not to set unrealistic retouching expectations. I always stress the time and expertise the finished takes and that also helps to justify the per image rate as the client starts to see the value in it and realises the shots don't pop straight out of camera looking that good.

Thanks for putting this video together Anthony. Looking forward to subsequent videos about blending the various exposures! Also, just fyi, I tried clicking your Instagram link at the bottom of the description and got an error.. not sure if it was a glitch on my end, but maybe have a look at that and make sure it’s working. Take care!
