As he wrestles more D1 guys, his opponents are gonna start hiding that arm like RBY used to. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, RBY used to have epic matches with Austin DeSanto earlier on in their careers. Until he used to straight up hide his arm behind his back and wrestle him from space more. Now he could do this because he was quicker than Austin and wasn’t worried about getting blast doubled. I know others have hidden an arm too, but I feel like RBY put it on the map because he was very effective at stopping Austins offensive system. Book it. Hate em or love em, but you can’t deny that Penn State room has the best coaches and game planners in the world. 🙏🏼

Yeah I feel like that like would only work on DeSanto though it’s been tried before and guys just get them in a front headlock

His slide bye is not that I'd a wrestler, but of a world-class ballerina. So smooth and graceful.... Curious if he ever had been instructed in dance at an early age like that of Vasiliy Lomachenko....

His slide-by is nice, no doubt. I tend to favor the over-tie slide with the high outside step. The one where you say you reach around to their triceps. It's just so hard to stop & it allows the guy doing it to almost "shoot"it. The one Jax is doing is dependent on some sort of forward pressure from his opponent. JB Branch, a (NCAA D2) champ from west liberty (1997) had a nasty slide by

Coach Alonzo, thank you for making this awesome video. I wanted to know if a comprehensive snapdown video is coming up. I have been wanting a resource that explores the most reliable and recent snapdown technology in the recent competitions so that I can increase the probability of me hitting snaps in my own jiujitsu training.

@@earnyourgold Is there anyway to send you a technique not seen in wrestling today. Was a set that I actually developed from the outside elbow control of a shoulder post?? Had considerable success off the "lazy fireman's" TD to back points in a continuous action... Don't know of any KZbin channels of any type that has the sharing capability others can learn from. I've been a fan of Jax for 3++ years. One of the few I've ever seen that literally has a set from feet to finish. It's extremely rare that a wrestler takes the match from feet to finish in a complete set.... Unfortunately, live in SC that doesn't have but a few programs....

I just watched a bunch of Bo during Fargo. It’s interesting how much different these styles are. Jax is very deliberate with the moves he does where Bo kind of “throws a lot at the wall till it sticks.” Both obviously affective. But just interesting contrast

I’m not sure how much NAIA wrestling you watch but there’s a few super high level guys. Life University’s 157 pounder has a good collar tie to head inside single from a low stance that would make for a good video. Nasty crab rice too.

Big question. I do jiu-jitsu now and im wondering if the short drag works well in jiujitsu, considering they can threaten guillotines and other head/arm chokes.

Short drag and peak out are my main front headlock defenses
@TrapsetJiuJitsu
@TrapsetJiuJitsu 2 ай бұрын
The way Jax does the short drag here, actually avoids the Guillotine choke sometimes. In Jiu Jitsu you may find yourself in a front head-n-arm lock pretty frequently. You can peek out to your Arm side if you swim your head towards that direction, clear space with your sit out, and look over their back once your head is clear. But if you try that on your Head side, they can Guillotine Choke you. Instead, you can use this particular Short Drag (arm drag and a shuck) to swim your head out of the Guillotine angle from the front and chase their back. More difficult in gi, because its harder to slip out and they’ll have grips to hang on to, but you can also use a gi grip on the armpit to Shove instead of shuck.
