Hey folks, Jak here - thanks for watching. I'm including a blog post in this comment incase you are interested in what Disrupt+ is. TL;DR - No changes to our free content on KZbin, we've expanded the production team to create experimental shows/films on D+ "The Disrupt plan for 2022 & beyond: 1) Double down on making a platform & app For us, this is Disrupt+ KZbin is a great ecosystem for growing a brand, but the nature of the algorithm is un-reliable. I think there's an opportunity to build our own video/streaming platform that helps secure Disrupt's spot, if say, KZbin/Patreon/Twitter were to go the way of MySpace. 2) Optimize creating long-term value The problem with building a separate platform then becomes, "How much do we focus on creating free KZbin content vs Paywalled Patron content?" Free content is good for getting eyes Paid content is good for building value The more paid content we create, the more value you get for subbing to Disrupt+. On the other hand: the more free content we create, the more our KZbin channel grows. I think the answer lay in expanding the Disrupt production team. Before it was 1 writer, 1 editor & myself. Over the past few months, it has been helpful to expand this to 4 editors, 4 writers, and myself. This change has increased the studio's ability to create both types of content; free KZbin content & Patron-only content. An unexpected upside of expanding the team has been back-logging content. We didn't release much in October/November, and instead took the month to create content for December, and December to create content for January, etc. This way, the studio is a month or two ahead of release which gives everyone involved a lot more breathing room. More buffer time, more polish. 3) Patron only content shouldn't just be interviews or behind the scenes I've come to see it's easier to just create "easier" content for Patrons. That is to say, stripped-down videos. One-takers instead of high-edits. But what if that were to be flipped? What if we, as content creators serving you, are creating equal or higher quality content than what can be found for free? This is the approach we are pursuing in 2022. Best case scenario, Disrupt+ will be a more steady source of revenue to fund future projects.
