Planted is very light and This is much heavier than that really in two different categories due to that. Depends what kind of gangs you want

Tableau builders seem to explode in popularity in recent years. I think the reason is they cater to introverts in an extraverted hobby. All action moves to your personal board or tableau. I am not a fan, I like interaction in board games. Also, it's much harder to make sure others play correctly

Making sure others are playing correctly is hard but for new players you can have everyone do their actions one at a time until you’ve shown them all the actions. Then go to the normal simultaneous. And you’re definitely watching what others are doing for the 4 different races to the huge bonus points. Do it’s non conflict interaction but definitely not solitaire.

IMHO Race for the Galaxy started it, but yeah random card tableau builders have been so dominating since. (I'm a bit tired too and waiting for the bubble to burst)

I can't wait for this era of no interaction euros to end. I just played this game this week and it was just awful. Constantly looking at tiny print, looking for bold, italicized, or underlined words, symbols, tracking constant minor transactions. Sure competition for objectives is a thing...a 4 point advantage out of well over 200 isn't exactly a big deal though. It felt more like a quiz about the games rulebook than a game. Heck, one symbol looked like it was telling me to score something one way, so I went after points that way, only for the owner of the game to tell me actually you needed to get cards with black colors in this box down here....THATS A THING!? Just stop it already!

I like the game but it is one of the most color-blind unfriendly games I have. What would it have taken to add the phase symbols on the cards? They are already on the board. One small change would have made the game easier for folks like me to play.

The good news is that the expansion is supposed to provide a set of colorblind friendly cards.

Well when youve played more than 1500 games over 10 years and youve bought a bunch at the beginning it’s not that much. And I was referring to these days I don’t keep a lot of the games that come through here. About 1 out of 15 games played get the saxophone Serenade so that’s not a lot
