Nice refresher. I studied Electrical thingies in college about 150 years ago, then did the C&G for part P testing about 10 years ago. But I can't remeber what I ate for tea yesterday

Good tutorial. I do like the idea of those adapters to facilitate a safer testing of light fittings

I think you should also remove the CPC from the earth bar for the circuit you are testing as you will not detect a break in the CPC if that circuit also has parallel paths to the point you are testing at

You explain things better than Gaz. You should make electrical installation testing series.

Makes sense, but it's still daunting trying to workout when to use what method, mind you in only 1 weekend into my course.
@DerekPodmoreАй бұрын
Test method 1 is not a correct way to do an R1 + R2 you need to disconnect the circuit cpc and connect it to the live and then do your test. The way you have shown you are testing parallel paths and getting incorrect readings. You should know better

Earth Continuity Testing Mistake?

Even guidance notes 3 shows that you can create a temporary link by linking between the line and the earth bar. There's even a nice colourful picture.

Can you guess what will happen with washing machine that is connected to water that is used for ground, and there's a constant current leak that doesn't trigger breaker? The washing machine water sensor will eventually go up in flames! It might be not your circuit leaking, and it might be not your washing machine, but in apartment building that will eventually kill someone one way or the other

is calculation at 10:14 correct? not an expert and might be wrong but result looks wrong to me

@@PeterS.-vr4ym thank you for the clarification I just checked what's written on whiteboard which doesn't seem to add up as (1/) part is missing. I guess its a well known formula for everyone except me so he didn't bother to add that part :)
@davebodger2Ай бұрын
True calculation result is 0.033333 recurring. You can think of it as 1/3 the resistance of one. If there had been four it would be 1/4 or 0.25 of the resistance as all resistances were the same. It's just an example.
@alpaycelikelАй бұрын
@@davebodger2 thank you, I didn't know the formula and what's written on white board is 3 times (1/0.1) is with simple calculation ending up as 30 but not 0.03 so I questioned all my math knowledge until seeing missing piece on whiteboard. There was a twilight zone episode where a guy wakes up and realise all the vocabulary and grammar of the language changed in the country where he lives so almost had similar effect on me :) thanks for the explanation I know some basic formulas but not this one so it would be great if channel folks can consider not all viewers are seasoned electricians -at least not me :)

Those R1+R2 links should be banned, leaving the CPC connected in the earth bar when performing that test doesn’t remove parallel paths. Surely a channel as large as yours shouldn’t be teaching such bad practices.
