Does the coronavirus pandemic hold lessons for the fight against climate change? With travel, manufacturing, and trade down during the global COVID-19 outbreak, the Earth experienced a big drop in carbon dioxide emissions. In this video, we examine what happened to the economy and environment in 2020 and explore how solutions like renewable energy can fuel a resilient economy while cutting CO2 emissions.

This video really made me realize that we can solve global warming. Ever since I was little I was obsessed with nature, earth, animals, etc. You could imagine my excitement when I found out my birthday was on earth day. You could also imagine my disappointment when I found out about global warming. I want everyone who sees this to do own thing special for earth today and start being better about taking care of our earth. Get shirts addressing the problem, plant trees, whatever! Just take action! 🌎 🌱 🌳

Global warming and cooling are constantly in motion. We are in a interglacial period (warming) that has let the human species flourish. Warming is good for all life. Then the pendulum swings back to cooling until were in a glacial period. The last glacial period maximum there was ice upto 2 miles thick as far south as New York. Look in central park NYC at the boulders left by the glaciers. Some of those came from hundreds of miles north. The last maximum was apx 22-24k years ago. When the climate changes people have to relocate. Thats the way its always been and always will be. Do not let someone looking for a excuse to use climate change as a reason why you or we have to do something. Pollution is a different matter. We need resources but we should be careful how we extract our needs. Remember this when you plug in your phone or take a hot shower. We need power to make it to the next level. Thank you for reading this and do not take my word for it, research the issues at hand and decide for your self. Even if thats unpopular these days. Knowledge is power and a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

The problem is overpopulation, not so much the products that population uses "The reason for this silence is simple…. To bring a halt to exponential growth, the number of legal immigrants entering this country would have to match the number of emigrants leaving it - about 220,000 people per year. Yet, while federal actions have increased the immigration rate dramatically, … any suggestion that the rate be decreased to some previously acceptable level is met with charges of "nativism," "racism," and the like. Unfortunately, such opposition has silenced much-needed discussion of the issue - recalling the smear tactics of the late Senator Joseph McCarthy. The first time around it was "soft on communism." This time the charge is "racism." Demagogic rhetoric of this sort has succeeded in silencing the environmental and academic communities and has tainted any discussion of population and immigration issues as "politically incorrect”…. It is nothing short of astonishing to see the great American free press, with its raft of syndicated columnists, frightened into silence by political correctness." Sen. Gaylord Nelson, founder of Earth Day

The common ground for both Republicans and Democrats on energy infrastructure is hydrogen. That is a good thing because hydrogen is actually the only effective pathway for us to fight climate change at scale -- and we would need an enormous amount of hydrogen to do that. The best way to make such a vast volume of hydrogen now is from natural gas -- using carbon capture and storage. There is lots and lots of natural gas all over the world to help us do this, including right here in the United States and nearby Canada. Blue hydrogen can power our cars, trucks, buses, trains, ships, airplanes -- it can even power the electric generators we would need to shore up our electric grid so it can charge the battery cars coming down the pike. With blue hydrogen, we can also make fertilizer, cement, and steel. But how would we be able to deliver all this hydrogen across our vast land? The same way we deliver natural gas -- with pipelines. Indeed, we can even use our existing gas pipelines if we simply reline them with plastic inserts, as they are doing now in the UK -- or as we are doing here when steel pipes start leaking. And as far as setting up the hydrogen infrastructure is concerned; we should stop conflating the source of the hydrogen with the means of delivering it. One has nothing to do with the other. Arguments against the source of hydrogen should not get in the way of us setting up a safe and efficient way to deliver it to those that need it.
