Indeed Crystal! Thank you for you input and hard work at the permablitz hear at Earth Repairian demonstration lab. The rainwater tanks you helped install worked flawlessly through the recent snowstorm. Your an earth hero in our book!

This is exactly what we need in our community and in our world today. If we can all grow our own food not only we will be healthier, physically and mentally, we will also be helping the land and the environment. Thank you so much for this wonderful video and incredible message!

Thank you Mr. Fite. Gardopia is designing, building and demonstrating how to rebuild communities and heal ourselves in the process. The best thing is that it is reletively easy to replicate and scale using permaculture practices! Good news all around!

This is awesome! I definitely want to get in nature more. I miss hikes and kayaking. My parents had a garden growing up. I'd love to build my own garden when I get a house to grow food for myself and give to people.

Gardening is literally healing in and of itself not to mention how healing the food is that we can grow. It's starts with setting that goal! Thank you Jacob for you positive comments!

Every vacant lot, every abandoned parking lot can be turned into a food forest that engages and binds every community. Thank for watching and commenting Ryan. Stay tuned more Earth Heroes coming for you screen!

Man, not all heroes wear capes!! What a great idea with so many purposes. Just having a community garden is a great idea to get people together for a common purpose while helping the earth. Fantastic!

I so appreciate knowing that Gardopia exists and "meeting" the bright-eyed people growing it. The more people see how doable this is, the sooner our generations of young humans will enjoy a reciprocal and joyful relationship with natural and circular systems, plus they'll get to know neighbors they may not always hang out with. Imagining what would come out of this, at scale, is hopeful and inspiring. i enjoyed looking through their website too, it looks like they are doing so much right.

How do you keep all the pests away organically?
@earthrepairian3334 жыл бұрын
Healthy soil and diverse crops with heavy mulch plenty of humus and organic matter are the first lines of defense. Diatomaceous earth is a great product for dusting and is organic. Bt works for worms and is also an organic solution.
@josephkoenig50764 жыл бұрын
That is awesome, how did you secure the original funding for the garden? Was the land granted to you by the city or was it all grassroots?
@woodphoto214 жыл бұрын
Good questions! I'll be watching to see what those answers are. I would like to start one in my hoon too!
@earthrepairian3334 жыл бұрын
Great question Joseph! This is from their website and I think covers it pretty well. "Gardopia sprouted in 2015 to address health disparities in a high-crime corridor on the near-Eastside of San Antonio. Initially funded by the San Antonio Housing Authority (SAHA), Gardopia implemented crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) as a methodology to reduce crime around an abandoned lot. Working with SAHA, this became San Antonio Eastside's first "gardopia," or garden utopia, where neighbors grow their own food and transform their community."
